Clerk of Court’s Report for July 2026 Public Safety Committee:
The Civil/Small claims clerk is out on maternity leave. I would like to commend the three employees left in the office
(Leslie Strapon, Caryn Gorney and Katherine Oseguera) as they are diligently working to help keep things running
smoothly. It’s been rough, but we’re working through. I have received permission from the Chief Judge to shutter the
office windows on an as needed basis to allow for courtroom coverage for all 3 courtrooms, meal breaks and pre-
approved time off over the next 12 weeks.

Sawyer County Ambulance continues to provide a high level of emergency medical care
throughout the county while experiencing another busy year of increasing call volume. Our
crews have responded to several critical incidents requiring advanced paramedic care, including
serious motor vehicle crashes, critically ill medical patients, and other high-acuity emergencies.
In each of these incidents, our staff demonstrated professionalism, clinical excellence, and
outstanding teamwork while working alongside our fire departments, first responders, law
enforcement, dispatch, and air medical partners. Their dedication and commitment have
contributed to positive patient outcomes under some very challenging circumstances.
Our department also continues to invest in the future of EMS in Sawyer County. We have begun
hiring graduates from the Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) EMT program into part-time positions,
helping build a local workforce of trained EMS professionals. This partnership strengthens our
staffing, supports local education, and provides opportunities for individuals to begin their EMS
careers while serving the communities in which they live.
I would like to recognize all our full-time and part-time staff for their continued commitment to
the citizens and visitors of Sawyer County. Their willingness to respond at all hours, maintain a
high level of training, and provide compassionate patient care reflects the professionalism of this
department every day.
