PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES REGULAR MEETING MAY 19, 2026 1. Call to Order A regular meeting of the Public Safety Committee was held in room 101A at the Justice Center. Present Supervisor Rick Nelson, Supervisor Jeffrey Hansher, Supervisor Derek DeMent, Supervisor Connie Kincaide, Supervisor Tim Maguire Absent None Excused None Staff present: County Administrator Dzwinel, District Attorney Lindsay (8:16 AM), Clerk of Circuit Court Mueller, Controller Mihalko (8:27 AM), Sheriff Knowles, Undersheriff Hermann, Medical Examiner Luecke, County Clerk Kretlow, Deputy County Clerk Reedy. Others Present: Dan Benson - Ozaukee Press 2. Proper Notice Chairperson Nelson called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM. The clerk noticed the meeting as required. 3. Staff and Committee Introductions Committee members and staff introduced themselves and gave a brief overview of their duties and backgrounds. 4. Public Comments, Correspondence, Communications There were none. 5. Approval of Minutes November 18, 2025 and February 17, 2026 Motion: Motion to approve the November 18, 2025 and February 17, 2026 minutes as submitted. Management/Financial/Informational Reports Update on staffing, financials, and autopsies. 7. District Attorney a. Management/Financial/Informational Reports Discussed the staffing shortage in the Victim Witness division. 8. Clerk of Courts a. Action Items 1. 2026-27 Generous Juror Program Clerk of Circuit Court Mueller provided an overview of Heaven's Gait Ranch, the suggested recipient of the 2026-2027 Generous Juror Program. Motion: Motion to approve Heaven's Gait Ranch as the recipient of the Generous Juror Program for the 2026 budget year. The Public Safety Committee meetings will remain on the third Tuesday of the month at 8:15 AM. 11. Adjournment Motion made by Supervisor Maguire, seconded by Supervisor DeMent to adjourn.
