________________________________________________ PUBLIC WORKS Wednesday July 29, 2026 6:30 PM at City Hall 405 Jewel Street MINUTES ________________________________________________ Members Present: Bart Coons, Doug Lee, Joe Ludtke, Jeff Schoenwetter, Dan Wegener, and Mayor Jane Fude Members Absent: Also, Present: The Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. Lee/Schoenwetter motioned to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Wegener/Schoenwetter motioned to approve the minutes from June 24, 2026. Motion carried. Public/Citizen Comments: None Review, Discuss, and Possibly Approve Increasing fees for Street opening permits/bonds. Motioned by Wegener seconded by Schoenwetter to approve new permit fees for street opening permit. Street opening permit will increase to $200.00 plus $.40/LFV over 500 feet of street opening, bond fee will be $2500.00 with 3-year moratorium for not allowing street opening for new streets. Motion carried 3-0. Review, Discuss, and Possibly Approve 2027 Road Maintenance Projects. Committee reviewed street improvement plans, made suggestions on scheduling projects and work needed. Joe will check with other utility supervisors and MSA for design and estimated costs or projects. No action taken. Review and Discuss Possible Capital Requests. Joe’s number 1 desire would be a new/ newer salt truck. Superintendent’s Report was presented . Joe reported that Celebrate Juneau and National Night Out are both coming up. The crews were out painting the road lines. Joe wants to see owners who put fences out for outdoor dining repair the concrete at their own expense. Joe will be on vacation the first week of August. Grant received for painting of playground equipment; deer netting installed in shelters.
