Recreation Committee Meeting Wednesday July 15, 2026 5:30pm at Juneau Community Center Chairman Agenda _____________________________________________________________________________ Members: Matoushek, Justman, Erstad, Smedema, White, Nehls-Rennhack, and Mayor Jane Fude Members Absent: Nehls-Rennhack, Justman Also Present: Lailynn White (Rec Assistant) 1. The meeting was called to order at 5:30pm and roll call was taken. 2. Smedema/White to approve the agenda. Motion carried. 3. White/Erstad to approve minutes from previous meeting. 4. Public Appearances and Comments a. None 5. Update on the Wild Goose Park Enhancement Initiative – No Parking a. No Longer Happening b. JPD won't enforce Ordinance c. DPW Committee said fields are fine & declined funding or support d. Rec Committee requests that Park Ordinance Sign at Wild Goose, even if JPD won't enforce them. City Park has one. 6. Review, Discuss, and possibly Take Action on the Recreation & Program Coordinator position not being up to date on many items outside this committee a. Board/Committee previously approved the role’s name change b. June 30th 2026 Personal Committee approved summer hours for “Recreation Director” not “Recreation & Program Coordinator”. c. City records need to be updated to prevent confusion 7. Recreation & Program Coordinator Report a. Program Updates i. Events are successful ii. Reading Club canceled due to lack of attendance b. Summer Assistant Updates i. Assistant is temporarily out, due to ACL surgery ii. We will still move forward with the Assistant, and will work around the injury 8. Review, Discuss, and possibly Approve Community Center Lease- Contributing Non- Profit, Civil Organizations having to sign a use contract for each of their free events a. Find Building Rental Form/contract No Action Taken 9. Review, Discuss, and possibly Approve the purchase of a Retractable Banner for events and promotions a. Large Promotional Banner $133.50 Smedema/White motion to approve. Motion carried yes. 10. Discuss Fall & Winter Program Ideas a. Eastern Suburban League Basketball b. Flag Football & Punt,Pass,Kick c. Haunted Trail? Other items 11. Old Business 12. New Business a. Soccer Teams are due 7/16 b. Splitting teams based on numbers 13.
