MINUTES OF THE JUNEAU PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES Wednesday, June 10, 2026 Eileen Gratton called the meeting to order at 5:02 PM. Trustees present were Brittany Binder, Eileen Gratton, Jean Haan, Jenifer Hirschfeld, Rosemary Smanz, Wj Smedema, and Dodgeland School representative Christina Rollins. Library Director Connie Schuett and Mayor Jane Fude were also in attendance. Public Comment: none Agenda: A motion to approve the agenda was made by J Hirschfeld and seconded by R Smanz. Motion carried. Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the May 13, 2026, meeting was made by J Haan and seconded by B Binder. Motion carried. Financial Reports: -A motion to approve payment of bills from May 8 - June 5, 2026, was made by E Gratton and seconded by R Smanz. Motion carried. -The treasurer’s report for May 31, 2026 was shared as was the City’s 2026 year-to-date budget report. Director’s Report: -Preparing summer programs. Ms. Kim’s Amazing Animals will be June 17. Dodge County Dairy Ambassador holding two programs in June. Guest presenters for July programs on bonsai and worm composting. Staff also implementing extra events related to summer theme in addition to their regular monthly storytimes, book clubs, crafting, and kids clubs. -Shared circulation and monthly statistics -Follow up on the RFID invoice: System will cover RFID costs for 2026 but JPL will need to decide if RFID is something we want to continue to implement moving forward -Friends of the Library received a $500 grant for kids “read -in” this fall. -Coordinating grant from Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation to cover strategic planning -Grounds in need of clean-up. Looking at downspout repair, general weeding, and shrub trimming. Unfinished Business: -Discussed the possible change to meeting date and time. A motion was made by E Gratton and seconded by B Binder to keep the monthly Juneau Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting the same: second Wednesday of the month at 5:00 pm. Motion carried. New Business: -Reviewed submissions for County payments for library services -Discussed the closing of the library on July 25, 2026. A motion was made by E Gratton and seconded by R Smanz to close the library on Saturday, July 25, 2026, so the library can attend Juneau Community Fest from 10 am - 3 pm. Motion carried. Board Planning : The Juneau Library Board of Trustees will meet on Wed., July 8, 2026, at 5 pm. A motion to adjourn at 5:19 pm was made by J Hirschfeld and seconded by J Haan. Motion carried.
