Personnel Committee — Minutes

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2024 9:00 A.M. Chairperson Sue Troxel called the Personnel Committee Meeting of the City of Augusta, to order at 9:12 a.m. Present were members Patricia Wessel and Robert Chaffee. Also present: Cynthia Anderegg. DISCUSS AND CONSIDER UPDATES TO THE TUITION ASSISTANCE POLICY FOR PUBLIC WORKS PERSONNEL TO OBTAIN COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE (CDL). The Committee reviewed the revised draft of the Tuition Assistance Policy for Public Works to obtain a commercial driver’s license and considered recommendations offered by city attorney Anders Helquist (Weld Riley). Motion by Chaffee seconded by Wessel to recommend to the City Council to adopt the Tuition Assistance Policy for Public Works Personnel to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Motion carried. Motion by Chaffee seconded by Wessel to recommend to the City Council to adopt the Educational Expense Agreement for CDL Licensure. Motion carried. DISCUSS AND CONSIDER TRAINING POLICY FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT. Motion by Wessel seconded by Chaffee to Table. Motion carried. MOVE TO CONVENE INTO CLOSED SESSION PURSUANT TO WISCONSIN STATUTES 19.85(1)(C) CONSIDERING EMPLOYMENT, PROMOTION, COMPENSATION, OR PERFORMANCE EVALUATION DATA OF ANY PUBLIC EMPLOYEE OVER WHICH THE GOVERNMENTAL BODY HAS JURISDICTION OR EXERCISES RESPONSIBILITY. THE PURPOSE IS TO DISCUSS COMPENSATION FOR THE 2025 BUDGET. AT THE END OF CLOSED SESSION, THE COMMITTEE WILL BE GOING BACK INTO OPEN SESSION. Motion by Wessel seconded by Chaffee to go into closed session. Motion carried. MOVE TO RETURN TO OPEN SESSION. Motion by Chaffee seconded by Wessel to go back into open session. Motion carried. ACTION, IF ANY, OF MATTERS DISCUSSED IN CLOSED SESSION. No action was taken. Next meeting is scheduled for: • Wednesday, September 25th at 1:00 pm –continue reviewing annual employee evaluations ADJOURNMENT Motion by Chaffee seconded by Wessel to adjourn the meeting.
