REVIEW 2025 Road Bids
Jen provided a spreadsheet listing all the road bids received, along with the amounts bid by each bidder.
Chip Seal Bids: Fahrner Construction $50,648 and Scott Construction $37,702, with optional bids from
Scott Construction of $40,824.
Motion (Hanson/Nelson) to award the chip seal bid to Scott Construction.
Chairman Hanson announced the ayes carry 3-0, and the motion was adopted.
Balsam Road Bids: Senn Blacktop bid $698,277.17, and Monarch Paving bid $702,652.62. American
Express submitted a bid for the base and shouldering only, which was $230,535.00.
Pricing between Senn and Monarch was compared with per-ton pricing and using the same tonnage. With
this fair comparison, Monarch has the lowest bid. Wyatt requested that Monarch provide the Town with
the additional costs of using two pavers and a limestone base. Final bid from Monarch: base $15.02/ton,
paving $68.31/ton, extra cost for limestone base $4,750, and two pavers $3,800 with traffic control.
Motion (Iverson/Nelson) to award the Balsam Road bid to Monarch Paving Company.
Chairman Hanson announced the ayes carry 3-0, and the motion was adopted.
REVIEW 2025 ROAD BUDGET and FUNDING OPTIONS
The original road budget was approved at $285,000. $135,000 will be transferred to the Balsam Road
project. $28,000 of LRIP funds from 2024, received in 2025, will be applied to the Balsam Road project.
A loan will be taken out for a four-year term to cover the remaining cost of the project.
Motion (Nelson/Iverson) to approve securing funding for the project, terms, and interest rates that are
most favorable to the taxpayers.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion (Hanson/Nelson) to adjourn this meeting at 6:15 pm.
Chairman Hanson announced the ayes carry 3-0, and the motion was adopted.
