PARK COMMISSION MINUTES August 5, 2026 Meeting called to order 9:31am Commission members in attendance: Jennifer Meyer, Kathy Alf, Tom Roach, Barb Kleist, Dean Kallenbach, and Tony Bischel; guests: Tommy Adams from Landmark and Mike Dahlby from Dahlby Conservation Services by phone Dana Myers from Scapegoats Adopt agenda; motion made by Kathy/second Dean and passed. Approval of July 1, 2026 minutes; motion made by Dean/second Tom and passed. Financial Report Total expenses in July $ 759.51 total year to date $ 4,718.59 Town of Union Treasurer dated July 14, 2026 shows June Report balances: Visit EC Dest.Dev balance $ 38,907.07 (prior to 2026 contract ) This is not accurate. A transaction of $ 2,709.07 should not have been posted here. The Town Treasurer has been informed of the error. Nicolet Park Checking shows a balance of $ 5,912.88 it does not reflect ck# 5986 in the amount of $ 2,709.07 or ck# 6058 in the amount of $ 133.20 both are deductions for the Bain memorial. Correct Bain memorial balance per Commission records spent $ 2,942.27 as of July 14, 2026. Original donations totaled $ 3,586.00 less deductions of $ 2,942.27 remaining balance $ 643.73 Belay memorial balance is $125.00 Motion made to approve financial report made by Barb/second Jennifer and passed. Parks Discussion Sherman Creek Park Kathy brought the completed No Bicycle/Motorized vehicle signs to the meeting. Barb will determine the best location to post the signs. Conservancy Tommy Adams from Landmark and Mike Dahlby from Dahlby Conservation Services joined the meeting today to discuss options for forest management at the Conservancy. Mike Dahlby is owner of Dahlby Conservation Services. The company helps land owners achieve long-term management of forested property. He discussed various steps involved in management plans. Dana Myers from Scapegoats joined the meeting by phone. His company is an ecological restoration and targeted grazing company that uses livestock for sustainable land management. A motion was made to request a proposal from Dahlby Conservation Services for a forestry management plan by Dean/second Jennifer and passed. Old Business Dean updated the project sheet for the August 21 Dedication of the Bain Memorial Sign project at Sherman Creek Park.
