CITY OF GILLETT UTILITY COMMITTEE MEETING Council Chambers – Municipal Building 150 N McKenzie Ave – Gillett, WI 54124 MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2024 AT 5:30 PM MINUTES Chair Mohr called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm. Roll Call Present: Alderpersons Nanette Mohr and Irene Drake, and Public Member Louis Danielson Also Present: Alderpersons Jerry Luther and Ashley VanStraten, Clerk Treasurer Chelsea Anderson, Mayor Jon Blaskowski, and Utility Operator Ron Anderson. Sandra Hubbard and Ruth Spang are excused. Public Input: None AGENDA ITEMS: 1. Open Public Meeting to Open Sealed Bids- Sealed bids from Ayres: $333,165.00 Kapur and Associates: $38,960.00 estimated design fee and bidding. Not complete. MSA: $362,000 Robert E Lee: $348,100 2. Close Public Meeting MOTION: Drake/Danielson Motion to close the bid opening public meeting. Voice Vote: All Voting Aye – MOTION CARRIED 3. Discussion and Possible Action on Highway 22 Project Engineer Firm- Went over experience with working with DOT with Engineers, this is our first DOT project. With further discussion, there were points brought up on previous projects that Ayres was the engineer on, and we feel they have not performed up to standards. Would like to call state to get more information and study the bids. 4. Discussion and Possible Action on Hiring for the Utility Department – two candidates shadowed the Utility Operator. Both candidates will remain in the process until we receive more candidates and interview, and then make our decision. MOTION: Drake/Danielson Motion to advertise the Utility Operator job. Voice Vote: All Voting Aye – MOTION CARRIED 5. Set Next Meeting Date – Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 5:15 pm. 6. Adjournment at 6:50 PM. MOTION: Drake/Danielson Motion to adjourn.
