Plan Commission Meeting — Minutes

MINUTES VILLAGE OF SURING PLANNING COMMISSION Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. LEARNING CENTER ROOM II The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by the Village President, Les Steffeck. Members present: Giese, Kohlwey, Regal, L. Steffeck, and M. Steffeck. Also present: Kim Gruetzmacher, Clerk/Treasurer, Trustee Kramp, Art Bahr and Jeff Thelen from MSA, Jay Tousey (5:17 PM). Members absent: Mahoney. 1. Introductions – MSA introduced themselves and started the meeting explaining the grant that the Village received and the up coming topics to be covered. 2. Review Project Scope – MSA explained the project for the grant. 3. Plan Commission Expectations – MSA explained the expectations of the planning commission for the comprehensive plan. 4. SWOT Analysis – Committee discussed multiple strengths and weaknesses within the Village in multiple area including, housing, transportation, utilities, business opportunities, and tourism. 5. Discuss Topics for Community Survey – topics were discussed within the committee for the upcoming community survey that will be going out. Participation is key to the success of the plan. Committee members were advised that the public needs to be aware that we are working on a comprehensive plan and we need participants for success. 6. Schedule Community Input Workshops – tentative dates were issued and will be posted at Village Hall and on the Village website in the near future. 7. Wrap-Up/Next Steps – discuss for future items were discusses. 8. Resolution 03-2025 Authorizing submission of WEDC Vibrant Spaces grant application – Motion to approve resolution 03-2025 authorizing submission of WEDC Vibrant Spaces grant application was made by Kohlwey and second by Geise.
