October 2, 2024 TOWN OF PESHTIGO Fire Commission Minutes Wednesday, October 2, 2024 12:00 Noon Members present: Dave Buechler, Dale Edlbeck, Lou Ann Seils and Karen Sylvester Members excused: Jim Meyer Others Present: Fire Chief Mike Folgert, Assistant Fire Chief Rich Seils Chair Karen Sylvester called the meeting to order at 12:00 pm. 1. Agenda: Motion (Edlbeck/Seils) to approve agenda. Motion carried. No negative vote. 2. Minutes: Motion (Buechler/Edlbeck) to approve minutes of May 16, 2024. Motion carried. No negative vote. 3. Review of Town Ordinance Sec. 2-455 through 2-463: Motion (Edlbeck/Seils) to recommend the following to the Ordinance Review Committee: Sec. 2-455. Composition. • … Appointments shall be made in writing to the secretary chairperson of the fire commission annually between the last Monday of April and the first Monday of May. • No appointment shall be made which will result in more than three members of the fire commission belonging to the same political party. Note: The commission does not identify political party status upon appointment, but has no opinion on the removal/status quo of verbiage. • Addition of verbiage requiring an oath to be administered upon appointment – Support Sec. 2-457. Meetings. The fire commission shall meet at least annually during the month of May, following the town board meeting of that same month, to appoint a chairperson and secretary vice chairperson. Motion carried. No negative vote. 4. Update on status of new fire engine. Assistant Fire Chief Rich Seils reviewed the status of new engine construction and costs and the department recommended change orders to be placed prior to October 31, 2024. Motion (Seils/Buechler) to approve the change requests as presented. Motion carried. No negative vote. October 2, 2024 5. Proposed 2025 Budget: Chief Folgert reviewed the proposed 2025 budget in detail with new format. Operational Request - $102,075 and Capital Request - $148,229. Motion (Seils/Buechler) to approve presented 2025 proposed budget to the Town Board. Motion carried. No negative vote. 6. Fire Chief Report: • Open House – October 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. • Raffle Tickets – drawing November 11, 2024 • Annual banquet currently being planned • Fire Prevention Week – October 6th through October 12 th • Smoke Alarm Grant – installed approximately 50 alarms in residences • Fire Fighter Photo Board – currently updating, 23 members 7.
