AMBERG TOWN BOARD MEETING Community Center – Tuesday May 14, 2024 6:00 pm Chairman Sagan called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with all board members present and 20 citizens present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Chairman Sagan opened the floor to the citizens. Pat Wontor inquired about the Auxillary serving food at the elections. Chairman Sagan explained that it was illegal to serve food and vote in the same room. The auxillary will continue to service food in the gym and the voting will remain in the board room. A concerned citizen who lives on Mundt Quarry Rd stated that there are a lot of potholes and he believes it should go back to blacktop and also should be local access only with a speed limit of 10mph. This was tabled until the next meeting. Supervisor Magley made a motion to accept the clerks minutes as typed up and Supervisor Campbell seconded it. Chairman Sagan read the treasurer’s report as follows: Equipment CD $253,305 .48, Parks and Rec savings account $5037.26. M/M account $12,084.84, Tax M/M account $210,557.54, checking account $42,258.33 but after checks clear the balance will be $1,270.60. Supervisor Magley made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Supervisor Campbell seconded it. The regular monthly meeting of the Amberg Plan Commission took place May 1, 2024 in the Amberg community center at 6:00 pm. The Commission looked at a C.S.M from Ralph McClellan. After review it was deemed to be good and approved without opposition. A discussion followed about how the Town ordinance should be adhered to more closely in the approval process. The May meeting of the A.S.A. commission was announced. Meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm. Supervisor Magley made a motion to accept CSM for Ralph McClellan and Supervisor Campbell seconded it. The Fire Dept had a fire down in Wausaukee and a car accident a couple of weeks before that. They received a $1000 grant from Mutual Insurance to upgrade lighting on the equipment truck. Their balance is about $3600.00 in the checkbook. The Wausaukee Rescue squad meeting wasn’t until next week so Mark will have a report at the next meeting. The Road Dept has been working on the roads and fixing trucks. They got the tractor back and they have been mowing grass. Supervisor Magley informed the citizens that the grant for Dow Dam was at the selection committee and we will know in July. If we don’t get it we will have to redo the grant and reapply in July. The beaver dam should be taken care of but if not Chairman Sagan has a number for someone to trap as long as he has a letter from the board. The Amberg Pub wants to close the side street on May 26th and June 22nd from 5-9 for bands that will be playing outside. They want to shut down Dutton Street on July 27th for their car show and Aug 24th for the annual Mary’s Ride. The Parks and Rec craft/bake sale was a great success. They want to thank the residents and businesses for their donations, vendors, friends an all the volunteers for making it a complete success. The first ballgame will be held on May 29th at 5:30 and they would like everyone to come out early. They will be serving hot dogs, popcorn and other vending. It will be Wausaukee vs. Coleman Pound. They will be selling ducks at different places. First place in the duck race is $500, second is $250 and third is $150. The last duck to make it across will be $100. They will have crafts and flea market items. Positions are open for volunteers. Amberg gun range would like to ask the board to look into the old railroad ties behind the ball diamond for use at the gun range for the 50 yd target. They would like permission to close Grant road by ballpark on June 22nd for Ducky Days and would like a road garbage can up at the ballpark. We finally got the State to add the DNS settings for the website and now waiting to go live. No call backs on the health insurance so I am going to try a different route. The ordinance to appoint the Town Clerk was approved by the board. Bids for Oil and LP for shop are being put out next month. Doug Nutt Sr would like to work to clean up Veterans Park but he needs to come up with a plan and bring it to the board. Also, the board would like to meet any and all people that will be working along with him. Mattison Logging is taking care of trees behind the cemetery. Supervisor Magley made a motion to let him proceed and Supervisor Campbell seconded it. The town (after the request of several citizens) would like to put a stop sign on Dutton St coming from the north. Supervisor Magley made a motion to approve it and Supervisor Campbell seconded it. Clerk Ducat will contact WTA regarding the Parks and Rec Savings and how to protect it if there is a change in the town board. If there is a request to withdraw monies from the account 2 people will need to sign for it. Supervisor Campbell made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Supervisor Magley seconded it. Meeting was adjourned
