Minutes AMBERG TOWN BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, July 12, 2022 6:00 pm
Chairman Ma* Ma+son called the mee3ng to order at 6:00 pm with Supervisor Magley,
Supervisor Campbell, Treasurer Suzawith, Ma+son and 12 ci3zens present. Clerk Boshen was
not in a*endance. The pledge of Allegiance was recited and Ma+son opened the floor for
ci3zen comment.
Ron Holmes requested the Town Board check on ownership of the “Town’s” 4 forty’s that were
once part of the Amberg School Forest since the one forty on Dow Dam Road has reverted to
Marine*e County ownership according to Tina Barnes at the courthouse. Treasurer Suzawith
asked Mr. Holmes about the signs that are posted on that parcel but he didn’t have any
informa3on about that issue. Fran Campbell asked if the kitchen door canopy would be
finished before winter and also stated that Old 38 Rd. has not been worked on in front of her
house since she has been there and it is deteriora3ng. Mark Wisinski stated that the neighbors
want to fix the shoulder on Amberg/Wausaukee Rd. He explained he could only do so much
with it himself, and asked if the Town could repair it. A resident from Dow Dam Road stated
that the logging trucks should have to pay for upkeep of the roads they drive on. “If they are
driving for a paper mill—assess them.” A resident on Wontor road complained that one of the
audience members was talking smack about the town employees in public venues.
Supervisor Campbell read the minutes from the June mee3ng. Treasurer made a correc3on to
one of the amounts that were reported. Treasurer Suzawith reported the following account
balances: General Money market 143,934.69; Tax money market 425,638.25; Checking
account 36,611.04; Employee savings account $53,408.70; and equipment cd $189;559.22.
The reimbursement check from the department of agriculture grant in the amount of
$50,000.00 was received. Supervisor Magley with a second provided by Supervisor Campbell
made the mo3on to receive both reports. Vouchers were paid.
Fred Smeester reported that the plan commission met on July 6th and that the commission s3ll
recommends that the version of the building permit applica3on that they presented to the
board in June be used. Treasurer Suzawith objected to the recommended change in the form
and Mike Churchill, commission member responded that it was up to the board to act upon.
No ac3on was taken.
The fire department report is on file in the clerk’s office.
Mark Wisinski turned the floor over to Tom Arnold who spoke on behalf of the Wausaukee
Squad. He stated that the turbocharger blew and that the current bill at Wi*’s is $4500. This
appears to be a con3nuing problem with this vehicle because it has happened three-four 3mes
before and they refuse to put more money into it. Their plan is to replace the chassis with a
2023 F-550. Everything would be rewired and all interworking would be updated with
comple3on done by November. If something were to happen to squad 1 there is no backup.
The loan on the squad they are using is $180,000 and they are asking the 4 towns to each
contribute $45,000 so it is paid off immediately. Tom went on to say that Crivitz want WRS to
be their back-up again which would increase the revenue. Other than Squad #2 problems
“everything is fantas3c.” They have applied for a grant, and if it happens, all of the towns
would have their money returned. In addi3on, he said that the town board may request to see
the Rescue Squads financial data at any 3me. A special mee3ng was set for Tuesday, July 19th at
6 pm for a special mee3ng. More informa3on will be available at that 3me, and the other
towns involved will also have heard the presenta3on prior to then.
Road Report: All pulverizing is done, and gravel has been placed on those roads. The Bolander
Road sign is currently missing.
The contract with Country Vision Propane was discussed and Supervisor Magley made the
mo3on to accept the contract with a second by Supervisor Campbell with a down payment of
$900 to be paid by July 15th.
Supervisor Campbell stated that she is wai3ng to hear back from the Town’s Associa3on about
the Town of Amberg obtaining a credit card. Chairman Ma+son spoke to A*orney
Spangenburg and said that he doesn’t know if there is a need to have an a*orney on retainer
at this 3me.
Under New Business:
One new applica3on for a bartender’s license for the Amberg Pub was presented but he did
not appear before the board. The picnic license for the annual Legion Turkey Shoot was passed
on a mo3on by Supervisor Magley with the second by Supervisor Campbell. The Fall Town
Clean Up Day was set for October 1st by unanimous agreement of the board. It was also noted
that all TVs (any size) will cost $25 to dispose of.
Due to the sale of their buildings a request was made by members of Faith Bap3st Church to
rent the Community Center on Sundays for services and mee3ngs un3l they can locate a
permanent new loca3on. The rental cost quoted to them would be $100.00 per Sunday.
The next Town’s Associa3on mee3ng will be hosted by the Town of Grover on July 21st at the
Town Hall.
The mee3ng was adjourned at 7:14 pm on a mo3on made by Supervisor Campbell with a
second by Supervisor Magley.
