GENERAL PUBLIC WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION

EXPEDITED ITEMS
1) 2026 Rec Program Preview – Bruce Kyes outlined the plans for the 2026 organized recreation program in
Lafayette, reporting two new divisions for girls soccer will be added. T-Ball, softball and boys baseball are also
planned, with the baseball adding a minors team; fall soccer will go ahead, but kickball is questionable. Online
registration and payment is in progress and is working well. He mentioned applying an epoxy coating to the
bathroom floors and concrete under the bleachers that do not have it would be two big improvements. No Com-
mission action was taken.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Doug Matthews reported that the General Use account has been removed from the report, leaving only the
Room Tax account. Fourth Quarter Room Tax revenue received in January totaled $4,525.43; this brought the
January 31, 2026 balance to $65,857.79. There were no expenditures for the month. A motion to accept the
Financial Report was then made by Sue Lane / Mark Sedlacek; motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS
1) Harvey Rec Area Sign Info & Funding – There was previous interest expressed in adding a bit of biograph-
ical information on a smaller sign to be located below the main sign. Following discussion, it was agreed that
this would state how long Sandra was a Lafayette resident, and how long she had been the Town’s Clerk; a
photo would also be included, with family consent. A motion to spend up to $300.00 for the new sign was made
by Sue Lane / Scott Faris; motion passed by roll call vote with the following voting “Yes”: Rob Brown, Scott
Faris, Sue Lane, Doug Matthews, Mark Sedlacek; Jerry Zais voted “No”.
2) Brick Boat Landing Operation – Jerry Zais reviewed the history of improvements made to the boat landing,
and explained why he felt there should continue to be attendants on site at the facility every weekend and holi-
day, and with random spot checks during the week. A suggestion was made to look into the possibility of an au-
tomated parking pass purchase system. No further Commission action was taken.
3) Room Tax Money Expenditures - Jerry Zais explained that a report of revenue and expenditures must be
submitted to the State of Wisconsin later this year. Discussion followed on what projects would be considered
“tourist-related”, and it was determined that the relevant statutes are quite vague. The consensus was to ask

the Town’s legal counsel to attend a future PRTLU meeting to clarify this situation. No further Commission ac-
tion was taken.
