Town of Lafayette PARKS, RECREATION, TOURISM, LAND USE and PLANNING COMMISSION January 12, 2026 7:00 PM Lafayette Town Hall CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Chair Scott Faris at 7:01 PM. The following members were present: Rob Brown, Scott Faris, Jenna Hazelton, DeWayne Krumenauer, Sue Lane, Neil Mathwig, Doug Matthews, Mark Sedlacek, and Jerry Zais (via telephone); a quorum was present. APPROVAL OF AGENDA & PRIOR MEETING MINUTES A motion to accept the Agenda for the January 12, 2026 meeting and to approve the Minutes of the December 8, 2025 PRTLU Regular meeting without correction was made by Sue Lane / Mark Sedlacek; motion was ap- proved by unanimous voice vote. GENERAL PUBLIC WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION Mr. Chuck Nagle addressed the Commission to compliment the Town’s Public Works crew in doing an excellent job on the roads this winter. EXPEDITED ITEMS 1) Berry Rezone – The owners were present, and explained the rezone would make the zoning match the cur- rent use of the parcel, and they had no plans to change that use. No neighbors voiced opposition. A motion recommending the Town Board approve the rezoning of the parcel from R-2 to R-1 was made by Sue Lane / DeWayne Krumenauer; motion passed by unanimous voice vote. 2) Eckwright Rezone – There was no representative present to answer questions, however an explanation ac- companying the application stated the owner plans to develop the parcel into a subdivision with 41 single-family residences. No neighbors voiced opposition. A motion recommending the Town Board approve the rezoning of the parcel from R-2 to R-1 was made by Mark Sedlacek / Sue Lane; motion passed by unanimous voice vote. 3) 190th St. / 70th Ave. Rezone – This rezone includes 16 parcels owned by 11 owners. One owner, Mr. Justin Bergeman, was present and informed the Commission that he just recently learned his parcels were about to be rezoned from R-2 to R-1, and he does not want that done; he wants them to remain zoned R-2 but he was never asked about his wishes. No one spoke in favor of the rezoning. Commissioners expressed concerns that, due to the vagueness of the public notice, many of the other affected owners may also have been unaware of what was planned for their property. Following discussion, a motion recommending any decision be tabled due to not clearly informing the owners of the rezoning was made by Mark Sedlacek / Sue Lane; motion failed on a unani- mous voice vote. A motion recommending the Town Board deny the rezoning of the 16 parcels from R-2 to R-1 was then made by Mark Sedlacek / Sue Lane; motion passed by unanimous voice vote. 4) Hwy. “X”/ 57th Ave. Rezone – Commissioners acknowledged that the current zoning of these three parcels as Local Commercial along Hwy. “X” is compliant with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan; there are limited areas of the Town that are suitable for Commercial use, and to reduce these is not desirable. No one spoke in favor of the rezoning. Following discussion, a motion recommending the Town Board deny the rezoning of the parcels to R-1 was made by Sue Lane / Mark Sedlacek; motion passed by unanimous voice vote. FINANCIAL REPORT Doug Matthews reported that the General Use account expended $1,298.25 for Eagle Scout project materials (as a reimbursement) and $1,700.00 as a donation to the LWIPA for the Dock Socks project. This left the ac- count with $151.54 on December 31, 2025. The General Use account will not be funded by the Town for 2026, so it will not appear on subsequent Financial Reports. The Room Tax account had no expenditures in the month of December, but did receive $171.20 in 3rd Quarter tax revenue; this brought the December 31, 2025 balance to $61,332.36. A motion to accept the Financial Report was then made by Jerry Zais / Sue Lane; mo- tion passed by unanimous voice vote.
