Town of Wheaton Parks Commission MeeƟng Minutes Tuesday, February 25, 2025 Wheaton Town Hall at 7 p.m. 4975 County Hwy T Chippewa Falls, WI 54729 1. Affidavit of NoƟce of MeeƟng per Wisconsin Statute 19.84 2. Ken Books called the meeƟng to order at 7 P .M. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. 3. Roll Call: Jenny SchuƩe, Ken Books, Mark Kohls, and Jan Dole Public present: None 4. Consent Agenda: Approval of Agenda, Approval of January MeeƟng Minutes, and next Wheaton Parks Commission MeeƟng Date: March 25, 2025. Jenny moved to approve the consent agenda and minutes; Seconded by Mark. MoƟon passed. 5. Public Comments: None 6. Old Business A. Review/Discuss/Act on Park DonaƟons  No new brick donaƟons since the last meeƟng. B. Review/Discuss/Act on Park Maintenance  Longview field needs dirt added to the edge of the dugout/bleacher sidewalk. Ken added this to the maintenance to-do list. C. Review/Discuss/Act on Adding Frisbee Disc Golf Course to Wheaton Park  Cesar adding dimensions to the course hole layouts to assist with course planning efforts and cost esƟmates. No new informaƟon to discuss. Deferred to March meeƟng. 7. New Business A. Review/Discuss/Act on Park Tree PlanƟng Event for Earth Day  Ken has spoken with his Elk Mound teacher contact regarding 4th graders doing tree planƟng this spring.  We discussed where to put new seedlings and replacing ones that did not make it from last year. It was determined that we would put some more around the ice- skaƟng rink to help make a wind block and then in the woods in different areas along the trails. The planƟng would probably be in the later part of April.  Jan made a moƟon to do the park tree planƟng event; Seconded by Jenny. MoƟon passed. B. Review/Discuss on Upper Pavilion/Building Project Update  Ken met with Balts ConstrucƟon and had the project kickoff meeƟng. Balts ConstrucƟon has offered to wrap the posts of the pavilion at no cost to the Town of Wheaton. Start date of the project is slated for around mid-March with compleƟon by the end of April if all goes well. Ken will let Balts ConstrucƟon know to use brown color for post wraps, so it matches pavilion roof, gable, soffit, and fascia.  Ken will submit a request to Digger’s Hotline.  Ken will make sure 2025 park budget adjustments are made to reflect payments that were expected to be paid out in 2024 being moved to 2025.  We discussed making a website and Facebook post aŌer compleƟon to highlight the project and push to pull in some more 2025 upper pavilion rentals. 8. Set PotenƟal Agenda Items for Next MeeƟng  Park DonaƟons, Park Maintenance, Park Rentals, Adding Frisbee Disc Golf Course to Wheaton Park, Park Tree PlanƟng Event for Earth Day, and Upper Pavilion/Building Project Update. 9.
