Speed and other concerns on County B Ash reported that he, along with Randy Wiessinger and Kyle Veeser, met with the Bay Shore Drive group. They are trying to find alternatives to speed reduction, to improve safety. Included in the agenda packet were the following: • 5-year crash data for the area, provided by the Sheriff’s Office • A copy of the Communication Plan by the Bay Shore Drive Safety Initiative, Neighbors for a Safe Bay Shore Drive (NFSBSD), dated January 28, 2026. The group has been meeting, and is gaining momentum with members, along with participation by Destination Door and Door County Public Health. They are not focusing on speed reduction. They are looking for alternatives to improve safety along that stretch of road. These ideas can also apply to other roads with walkers and bikers, and become a county-wide effort. Wiessinger noted that this effort is unique with the group being proactive instead of reactive. They are doing it the right way and it’s community led. Ash said it’s understood that any request for a safety study would need to come from the towns. 9. New Business: None 10. DOT Update Eric Sikorski reported that there is no planned highway construction in Door County this year. There will be regular maintenance. There will be a full signing replacement countywide on STH 57 this year. There is a state-wide initiative with wrong-way signage.
