Park and Recreation Meeting — Agenda

Park and Recreation Meeting Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. 4528 State Highway 57, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Park and Recreation Chair , Mark Haen at 6:00 p.m. Establish Quorum. In addition to Mark Haen, the following people are in attendance and constitute a quorum: Dan Woelfel, Ryan Brungraber, Andrew Flok, and Gary Londo. Derek Denil came late. Also in attendance: Amy M. Flok Approval of Agenda. Motion by Ryan and second by Andrew to approve the agenda, as notice. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes from July 29, 2026. Motion by Gary and second by Ryan to approve the minutes of the July 29 th, 2026, meeting. Motion carried. Public Participation. None Pending Business Interior Update of Concession Stand. Mark reported that he has made some calls on the counter tops, but the contractor hasn’t gotten back to him with a price. The Committee tossed around the idea of a manufactured stone like we have in the Town Office. Mark will get quotes for both the manufactured stone and the Formica. We will use Josh and Brandon who work for the park to start to dismantle the freezer in the concession stand. Batting Cages. Josh and Brandon took down the batting cages this past week. Mark was going to get astroturf to do the batting cages at the park from Neenah School, but it sold before he could get to it. He will continue to look at other possibilities. Dan stated we still have the dugouts to look at and do the fascia. Budget to Actual. The Committee looked at the current budget. Everything is ok right now, except the field expenses. We need to keep that in mind for the rest of the year. Andrew asked to place in the budget a new backpack blower. There was a discussion on whether we should purchase a gas run blower or a battery powered one. Electrical Access for Clark Lake Dam. Mark is having issues connecting with Jim Webb. Ryan stated we are in regulation for the lake level. There’s almost no flow currently, so hopefully we can get some boards to replace the current boards that are bowed. We will get some boards and look at the hardware that we need to replace them. Employee Updates – Fall 2026. We hired Brandon Thompson from the Coast Guard who also works with Josh. Both will work through the fall. They will come back next summer and possibly the summer after. 250 th Celebration Update. October 3rd, the Town will host the 250th Celebration of America. There will be 2 bounce houses, movie in the park with a tent and hot dogs. Mark will check to see if Josh and Brandon can be there to help us. New Business Equipment Purchases. We ordered a sprayer from Tractor Supply. We also ordered a brush hog from Fleet Farm. Mark picked that up last week. Bob Haen came over to help Jack and Drew mix the weed killer to kill the weeds in the park parking lot. Dan asked Randy Dvorak to come out and give an estimate on possibility crack filling.
