Applicant proposes a sauna located as close as 63 feet from the OHWM. The 14 property is located at 4120 Glidden Drive, Parcel No. 022-03-28282734E. 15 Wait reported the Plan Commission heard this variance at their meeting on July 8th. The request is 16 for an accessory structure to build a sauna less than 75 feet from the Ordinary High-Water Mark. 17 There were 3 letters of support from the neighbors. A variance for a deck was granted by a previous 18 owner in 2000. The Land Use Report indicated there were other places on the parcel where the 19 sauna could be placed. The Plan Commission voted to recommend approval to the Board. Woelfel 20 looked at the site, and it doesn’t seem there are any other options, so he would support it. Motion 21 by Wait and second by Denil to recommend Support to the Door County Land Use Department for a 22 sauna. Motion carried unanimously. 23 24 Northeastern Wis Antique Power Association request for a conditional use permit to expand 25 agricultural visitation facility and establish assembly hall use within existing buildings. The 26 property is located at 5005 North County View, Parcel No. 022-02-11282641. 27 Wait reported the Plan Commission met regarding this conditional use permit on July 8th. Initially 28 the group was not represented at the Plan Commission Meeting because they didn’t receive the 29 notification in the mail until the day after the meeting. Don Rudolph did get everything that was 30 requested to Wait and the Plan Commission. They are asking to be considered an “Assembly Hall” , 31 which would allow for more than 10 events per year. Chuck Ott stated that they have received 32 several donations and this would help them in that process. The recommendation of the Plan 33 Commission was to support the conditional use permit. Reasons for the recommendation of 34 support include: No complaints from neighbors, it will increase interest in historical agricultural 35 equipment and farming, promote favorable to visitors and agri-tourism, and it is a family friendly 36 event. There is concern about camping during the events, but the Door County Land Use 37 Department will be refining those policies. Motion by Wait and second by Denil to recommend 38 support for the conditional use permit for the NEWAPA to expand their ag facility and establish 39 assembly hall use. Motion carried unanimously. 40 41 Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary Event. Woelfel stated that Door County Tourism Zone 42 gave each community money to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary based on the amount of 43 income the municipality has gotten. Some of the ideas were to host an ice cream social during a 44 Town of Sevastopol, Board of Supervisors’ Meeting – July 10, 2026 3 Institute Cubs game. Another thought was to have a “movie at the park” night to get families to 1 come to the park and enjoy some popcorn and a movie.
