Town of Sevastopol Ordinance Committee Meeting Thursday June 5, 2025, 6:00 PM 4528 State Highway 57, (Institute), Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 Call to Order. Ordinance Committee Chairman, Trent Olsen, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Establish Quorum. The following members were present and constitute a quorum: Jeff Schmeckpeper, Linda Wait, Laddie Chapman, Amy Flok, and Trent Olsen. Proper Notice / Adopt Agenda. Proper notice was confirmed. Motion by Jeff and second by Linda to adopt the agenda. Motion carried. Approval of May 6, 2025, Minutes. Motion by Jeff and second by Laddie to approve the minutes of the May 6th, 2025, meeting. Motion carried. Pending Business Update from Board of Supervisors meeting May 19, 2025. Trent updated the committee on the May Board meeting. The Ordinance Committee had reviewed all ordinances and they were separated into categories for 1) repealed, replaced, disregarded or never put in place; 2) current ordinances with no changes needed; 3) ordinances that are outdated, no longer relevant and recommended for repeal; and 4) ordinances requiring discussion, replacement or amendment. The Town Board reviewed those ordinances identified for repeal and voted to go ahead and repeal them. Notice was provided to the Peninsula Pulse. Updates on Section 4 Items to be amended and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for upcoming meetings. Linda updated the Noxious Weed Ordinance, the Burning Ordinance and Snowmobile Ordinance. In the Burning Ordinance, Linda added in the Door County Code. She kept the burning barrel portion in, and updated the opened burn permitted by the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department. The changes to the Noxious Weed Ordinances include adding some additional species and changing of Weed Commissioner to the Town Board or its designees. The changes to the Snowmobile Ordinance give every snowmobiler the ability to travel on the right side of any town or County roadway to a trail. We will bring the 3 updated ordinances to the Town Board at the June meeting. Agenda Items for Next Meeting / Meeting Date. Tuesday, August 5 th at 6:00 p.m. Adjourn.
