Gwenn Graboyes – Concerned about the level of silt at the bottom of Clark Lake. She believes it’s affecting the lake level. Pending Business Bathroom final bill/extras/landscaping. Mark updated the Committee on the progress of the bathroom. They are pouring concrete this week and we are hoping to have the bathroom open this weekend (May 17th). We will see if Portside will do the initial cleaning to have the bathroom ready. Park Employees will make sure the bathrooms are stocked. They will also rope off the dirt area, since we must seed it. The Committee will welcome donations for landscaping around the restroom. Concession Stand – Remodel Discussion. The walls have been removed from the men’s and women’s bathrooms. The plumbing has been cut and sealed by Brian Peterson who also does the winterizing/opening of the concession stand. We will ask the Pioneer Booster Club and the Mighty Pioneers for their input. We may have to adjust the height of the counters to make it ADA compliant. There was a discussion about replacing the current picnic table under the awning of the concession stand. We will investigate pricing. Dan will purchase a pressure washer for the park. Mark secured a new cooler for the concession stand. Joe and Leah Hoffman are the new managers for the Institute Cubs, and we will train them on everything they need to know. Baseball Field Grass Cutting – Lengths/Requirements. Mark stated that since we have many games coming up, the grass will need to be cut more often. Dan would like Mark to work with the Park Employees to make a task list to ensure everything is done. The baseball outfield that we have previously had issues with is again holding water. We will work with the school to see if there is a reasonable solution. One of the irrigation heads on the north field is leaking. The school is aware, and we are working together to address. New Business Legion Baseball Field Use. There is a new Legion team who asked if they could use the fields at the Town Park in June and July. Ryan suggested that we donate the use of the fields for this year and if it is successful and they want to utilize the fields in subsequent years, then we charge for use. Motion by Ryan and second by Gary to let the Legion use the Town Park at no charge this year. Motion carried. Striping of the Town Park Parking Lot. The Committee was provided with 2 estimates for striping the Town Park parking lot from Stars and Stripes and Bay Striping LLC. There was a discussion about Bay Striping not using different colors for handicapped parking and no parking spots. Dan will reach out to the County to see if they have any recommendations. Mark will see if the parking lot needs to be resealed before the striping. Door County Jet Skis and Whitefish Bay Boat Launch Usage. The Town was approached by Josh Julian, who has jet ski rentals in Door County. The Town has the ability to control what happens at the launch and has had in previous years had some complaints regarding this. Other municipalities who let commercial businesses use town owned property charge for the use and require business liability insurance to protect the municipality. Bo Ellis, a resident of S. Cave Point Drive, would like the Committee to get input from neighbors to both sides of the boat ramp since those beaches are private. Motion by Dan and second by Trent to table the issue until the June 10 th Park and Rec meeting. Motion carried. Agenda Items for Next Meeting. Whitefish Bay Boat Launch/Jet Ski Rental Set Next Meeting Date. June 10 th at 6:00 p.m. Adjourn. Motion by Trent and second by Hugh to adjourn.
