Treasurer’s report:
Change in savings account structure, with increased interest rate from 2.2% to 2.67%
Motion Marchant/Vandertie unanimously carried by voice vote to accept Treasurer’s report
Citizen input: None
Southern Door Presentation:
Kevin Krutzik, Superintendent, and Heather, Admin, were available to give an update on the school. Heather provided a recap of last nights annual meeting where they shared information on levy estimates and projected mill rate effect on estimated property tax. Kevin discussed the Community feedback survey that is going out by the end of the month in preparation for the referendum and asked us to help encourage community residents to participate in the ranking of strategic priorities.
Road Work updates:
Joe is working with other towns on the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP), which is done every 2 years. Joe has asked Thad Ash, County, to quote improvements on 3 roads for potential consideration in this program: Marsh, Pine, and Low roads. By the next meeting we should have prices on these roads and can determine which roads would be appropriate for the various funding programs under LRIP.
PASER road conditions report has been submitted.
No passing road signage going up on school road. If we need to add lines, it would cost $750.
Joe asked Sherri to watch for the NorthEeat Asphalt bill, when received, it needs to go with architect fees to Stantec for reimbursement.
Town Park:
Pickleball improvements were made by the Door County Pickleball Club as approved. Nice addition to our park.
Joel Daoust walked through the color selections that were needed for the bathroom project.
Motion Marchant/Vandertie unanimously carried by voice vote to approve the color selections for the bathroom project for Portside
Community Center:
Addition of Internet: Tmobile contract was received and signed. Waiting to hear next steps. Landline will continue until internet is set up for security system communication.
Quarry Permits:
Jerome Jadin renewal was received last week, pending the posting in the Pulse. With their existing permit expiring this month, a temporary permit is being offered for continuity until formal approval.
Motion Wautier/Vandertie unanimously carried by voice vote to approve a temporary Quarry permit for J.Jadin until it can be approved at our next meeting
Zoning and Inspection Permits:
Building and zoning permits were reviewed. Deuchert driveway and culvert were also approved.
Food trucks were also discussed as a few inquiries were made regarding them. Using the Town of Gibraltar’s as a sample, The Board is reviewing this document and will bring back questions or suggestions for edit at our next meeting.
Board of Appeals is meeting September 29th regarding a Petition for Grant of Variance with Steven Ransom Jones. If Board of Appeals recommends approval of the variance, it then needs to come before this Board at our next meeting for final approval.
Website Upgrade:
Staging link was sent to the Board to review the proposed website. The Community Center Rental will be updated to add a statement about internet availability. The Board liked the logo and felt it could be used to add consistency to various mediums. Upon approval, website is set to launch tomorrow (Sept 17th). Mark will reach out to a personal contact to see if he can get aerial pictures of the park to add to the website.
Motion Vandertie/Marchant unanimously carried by voice vote to approve the rollout and launching of the new website
Bed and Breakfast Rentals:
We currently have no Bed & Breakfast rentals in the Town, but 1 short-term rental. Concern with these is that if a large development firm want to come in and buy-up housing for this purpose, it could affect long-term housing for those looking to become a part of this community, and potentially affecting the long-term viability of our town.
Next year we were going to update our comprehensive plan, which includes zoning. Joe asked Sherri to contact Baylake Regional Planning for this next year. This topic will be added to that discussion process.
Clerks Correspondence – for Information Only:
Convention: Penny not going, Joe and Sherri to attend.
Payment of Bills, Monthly Salaries, Admin Expenses:
