February 2024 Town Meeting Minutes

February 28, 2024 Town of Luxemburg Meeting was called to order by Chairman Linda Jonet at 7:00 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll Call: Linda Jonet, Ken Dart, Leonard Wachal, Jerry Zellner, Edith Lauscher, Glenda Daul Community Present: Dr. Jo-Ellen Fairbanks, Rebecca Dobbe Public Comments: Dr. Jo-Ellen Fairbanks explained why we are having the school referendum. She provided a Q&A and power point print out sharing the whys we need it and what will happen should it not pass. Approval of the January Meeting Minutes: Leonard moved with a second by Ken to approve. Motion carried. 2 ayes, 0 nays Reports: Treasurer Jerry Zellner stated that as of January 31, 2024 the town has a checking balance of $920,201.33, ARPA $77,158.62, and a CD of $184,465.51 for a total of $1,181,825.46. Personal Property taxes still need to be paid by Kelly Froelich and Quadrant. Zoning Administrator Edith Lauscher reported Calvin Abts would like to rezone some land but has not returned the paperwork. Email received on the Zellner subdivision regarding storm sewers. 2 building permits were issued for an addition to Dennis Junion and a house for Michael & Laura Dart. New Business: We will be staying with Rural Mutual Insurance as our carrier. The Town Chair will be sending letters to the farmers as haulers regarding the rules of the road. (IOH) We are required to report all bridges to the State. We have contracted with Delmore Consulting. We are not able to participate in the ARIP Program as we do not have any roads posted with weight limits. We are looking at a 45-mph speed zone on Sunset Lane. We will work with Casco regarding this.
