In other business Funk reported the department did not receive FEMA grant for radios. Will apply again in 2026 through a grant writing agency. Would like have some type of ordinance allowing the fire department to recover some specific costs associated with calls such as heavy equipment and foam. Subject discussion continued following report. Reported 2 changes to department by-laws – new members to be voted on by ballot and start time of annual meeting. The boards continued discussion on recovering special costs incurred by the fire department when responding to calls. This would be primarily in special cases and for non-typical expenses such as backhoes, oil dry, foam. Establishing fees through an ordinance was noted as a practice elsewhere, also utilizing the process for a reimbursement through the state for vehicle accidents. Town Clerk provided information from the WTA legal counsel advising that any new fees may have an impact by reducing the allowable levy. J Kuhn indicated he had also inquired on this subject and received countering information. There was general consensus to continue to look at recovery of some special costs and to gather additional information. No action taken.
