April 8, 2024 The regular monthly meeting of the Town of Rantoul was called to order at 6:30pm at the Village Hall of Potter by Chairman Mertz. He verified that meeting notices were posted on April 5, 2024. Motion by Eickert, second by Jannette to approve the March 2024minutes as printed ;motion carried by voice vote . Motion by Jannette, second by Eickert to accept the Treasurer’s reportof Checking account balance of $11,367.23Money Market account balance of $ 234,378.62 and Tax Collection Account of $1 0.84 for a total of $245,756.69;motion carried by voice vote. The Town Board viewed the most recent 2024 sales recording, and Calumet County activity log. The 2024 LRIP Irish Road Project bids were opened. Three bids were received from Kartechner Brothers, Northeast Asphalt, and Murphy Concrete & Construction ( MCC). Motion by Jannette, second by Eickert to accept the bid option from MCC totaling $356,588.00 for the following: Irish Rd (10,430’ x 22’) – pulverize & shape, pave 3’ hot mix, & shouldering $ 356,588.00 Other bids received for this project: Northeast Asphalt: $358,284.05 Kartechner Brothers: $391,079.65 Motion carried by voice vote. A copy of the proposals follows. Election results from the April 2 , 2024 Election were given. The Town had 183 voters of which 25 were absentee voters.The Inspector’s Statement was viewed by the Board, and a copy follows. Equipment for repair, replacement, or sale were discussed. Roads Maintenance Supervisor Wunrow discussed the Oshkosh plow truck that has not been in use for many years, and was no longer needed. Motion by Jannette, second by Eickert to list the 1961 Oshkosh plow truck on Wisconsin Surplus Auction for sale; motion carried by voice vote. Mr. Wunrow also presented an estimate for rep airs to the boom mower on the New Holland tractor for the Board to view. The estimate is in the amount of $11,233.97 for all needed repairs. Motion by Eickert, second by Jannette to have the aforementioned estimated repairs completed on the New Holland tractor boom mower; motion carried by voice vote. The Wisconsin Towns Association Spring Meeting will be held April 18 th at the Town of Stockbridge . Chairman Mertz, Supervisors Eickert & Jannette, as well as Clerk Mink plan to attend. Bridge Aid for 2025 was discussed. Roads Supervisor Wunrow discussed a bridge on Stecker Rd that is planned for this grant. This will be tabled until the May meeting for completion of the application and signing. The Board of Review compensation was reviewed. Motion by Eickert, second by Jannette to set the Board of Review compensation at $80.00, the same as 2023; motion carried by voice vote. Ordinance 2021-01 (Amended Ordinance No. 2017-01) - an Ordinance to Appoint Alternate Members for the Board of Review, was reviewed. Motion byEickert, second by Jannette to leave the ordinance as is; motion carried by voice vote. The 2023 Annual Report is still in progress and will be viewed at the Annual Meeting. Billstotaling $28,585.17were presented . Motion by Eickert , second by Jannette to approve the bills as presented; motion carried by voice vote. An itemized list follows.
