Solid Waste Committee report regarding the fuel surcharge and the contract with Howard Disposal. Clare Reusch from Howard Disposal was present. The committee had met with Clare to discuss fuel surcharge and the section of the contract not being as precise as it should be now that it applies. She explained to the town board that the contract indicates that the percentage for the fuel surcharge was applied to both pickup charges for trash as well as recycling, but not on the total amount of the invoice. A possible option would be to base the percentage on the number of pickups for trash only. At the pump pricing was also discussed. Clare had provided wording to amend the contract that would spell that out as well as the website used to determine average diesel prices for the time of billing. The company also offered the possibility of eliminating the fuel surcharge with an extension of the contract for three to five years. Consensus was for the Solid Waste Committee to meet again with Clare on July 14 th at 6:00 p.m. to discuss future contract pricing or amending the contract. Those recommendations will be brought before the town board at the July 15 th town board regular meeting. Financial Report.
