Beautification Committee Meeting — Minutes

Planning and Beautification Committee Minutes August 12, 2026 Present: Debbie Hintz, Barbara Nehring, Cheri Hughes, Frank Marfia I. Pledge of Allegiance II. Introduction of guests- no guests III. Approval of July 15, 2026 minutes- first by Frank, second by Cheri IV. Approval of August 12, 2026 agenda/ first by Cheri, second by Sue V. Old business A. Pollinator garden- Rod mentioned the area around it needs to be mowed. Debbie will call town crew about this. B. Apple orchard- lots of apples this year, however, no honeycrisps. C. Walking trail- entrance sign needs some refurbishing. D. In town plantings- Sue did a great job on Leo Land garden. She said the plants around town hall need to be watered more frequently in the summer. The area around the state line marker plant will be improved . The plant will be in ground as opposed to in a planter box. E. Lake banners - up and good F. Budget to date- $6,781.54 (includes storybook garden) G. Christmas decorations H. Fall decorations- We will do a more compact area of downtown and larger displays. Artificial flowers will be used as opposed to real as the town has no one to water more real plants. Real pumpkins, hay bales and solar lights will be used this year. I. Recurring maintenance 1. Mowing- Apple orchard/ pollinator garden need attention. 2. Trim sidewalks/ walking trails 3. Trash cans for events- the Arts Committee has started to put out the cans and they look great! 4. Turn water on/off 5. Veterans flags- the suggestion to put out veterans flags on the light poles was voted down at this point as we put lake banner flags there, unless there would be a way to put them underneath. We feel this project should be deferred to the VFW. 6. Orchard gate- Frank has some changes to discuss with Austin Ramesh regarding the actual gate height. 7. Sign on Hwy 45- Mr. Pasternak has the materials and should have the sign done soon. VI. New business A. Fall decorations- see above. Will start the week of Sept 8 B. Orchard brace for sign- Sue will contact Bill Boscamp to see if he is interested in making it. C. 2027 budget- Debbie will be working on the budget. Requests were turned in and discussed.
