Land O’ Lakes Public Library Board of Trustees Minutes of May 13, 2026 1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by Bob Hughes at 9:00 am 2. Establish that Proper Notice has been given a. meeting posted on 3. Quorum established a. Roll Call and introduction of guest, if any b. Trustees Present: Bob Hughes, Greg Wenzel, Mary Jo Zane, Marcie Thorp, Jone Davis, Bernie Heindl, Donna Murray-Tiedge c. Absent Excused: d. Also in Attendance: Shelly Knaack, Heidi Reuter 4. Approval of Secretary’s Minutes a. Motion by Donna Murray-Tiedge, second by Bernie Heindly to approve the minutes from the meeting, motion carried 5. Treasurer’s Report a. Financial Report i. Motion by Jone Davis second by Mary Jo Zane, to approve the financial report, motion carried b. Check Authorization i. Motion by Bernie Heindl, second by Donna Murray-Tiedge, to approve the payment of bills, motion carried c. Watersmeet money won’t be coming to June or July 6. Director’s Report a. statistics shared b. The laptop hand out was great. 150 laptops handed out, Ordered 100 more c. The Volunteer Appreciation Party was fun. The change from breakfast to evening with appetizers was a great change. d. Movie attendance has been low. Shelly mentioned it to a patron at the movie and that patron came in the next day and donated money to the movie license so the movie can stay. Shelly is looking to get a sound bar to help with audio during movies. e. The Trumpeter Swan program had good attendance and great information. f. The Library is getting ready for summer, outdoor furniture and garden hoses are out. Screens going into the fireside room soon. Shelly will organize the shed for summer. g. Upcoming Programs i. May 13th: America @ 250 Event: Ken Burns’ “The American Revolution” snippets + Facilitated Conversation 1 PM-3 PM- hosted by The Eagle River Conversation Group ii. May 14th: Spring Bingo for Grownups (with Chocolate) from 4:30-5:30 iii. May 21st: Afternoon & Evening Movie: “The Housemaid” at 1 PM and 6:30 PM iv. June 1st: Summer Reading starts 7. Maintenance Report a. Carpet Cleaning-I have switched things up and have hired Eagle Carpet Cleaning to do our carpets this year. b. Window Cleaning-Crystal Clear Windows cleaned all windows inside and out on May 1st. They look great, he always does such a good job. c. Fencing Broken-The Michigan Groomers broke our fence in 3 places and cracked the Town’s Park Bench in half and also some of our fencing that was broken had sprinkler parts attached. Lynn Jolin is aware of all of these things and is working with the Groomer’s Insurance Company. I have alerted Green Lawn about the sprinklers. d. Light Bulbs – Greg offered our lightbulbs that were taken out when the lower level got switched to LED lighting to Forest Lake Country Store. Joe came and picked up several to check if they work. e. Door Updates - Greg is talking to door makers, David is completely backed up hoping to get to a design after memorial day, Greg will look at windows with broken hardware, either replace hardware or put window replacement on the to do list. f. Greg did a lot of work on the library grounds including fertilizing the lawn, which he always takes care of and picking up litter, which we are immensely appreciative of. g. Greg will paint the front sign, next lawn application at the end of the month, will also check the gutters 8. Old Business a. Inventory Recap i. went really well ii. 31 items needed clean up iii. had to rescan 300 items that didn’t scan properly iv. all done for another 5 years v. took less time than originally planned 9. New Business a. Discuss/Action on closing early Friday July 24th and Saturday the 25th for the FOL Annual Booksale b. Library Parking - Back Parking Lot and Signage i. snowmobile trailers parking in our back parking lot ii. need new signage that says trailer parking over by the Snowflake iii. library use only iv. add another camera to the back parking lot v. freshen up signs that are there 10. Committee Reports a. Friends i. meeting was about the book sale and silent auction ii. long meeting, to go over everything iii. talk about the book sale being donation only - shoppers will find out when they show up, they decide how much their books are worth, WEOML sale did this and their sales went up $500, Friends are going to give this a try iv. gave another $5,000, up to $15,000 this year in donations b. Town i. Shelly and Bob going 11. Correspondence a. Three for the month of April b. Mary Jo picking them up today to send notes 12.
