Page 1 of 1 Town of Phelps Minutes - Special Town Board Meeting Wednesday Tuesday July 15, 2025, 9:00 pm Phelps Town Hall, 4495 Town Hall Rd., Phelps WI Present: Town Board Supervisors Maureen L Robinson, Dave Selby, Steve Waier; Town Clerk/Treasurer Sheryl J Ward. Present via Teleconference: David Trungale and Mike Walden of R&R Insurance. Excused: Town Chair Steve Doyen, Town Supervisor Jeremy Ryan. 1. Call Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Steve Waier at 9:00 am. 2. Roll Call/Quorum Call: A quorum was present. 3. Verification of Public Notice by Town Board: Per Clerk Ward, On Friday July 11, 2025, the agenda was posted at the Phelps Town Hall/Community Center, Phelps Post Office, and the Phelps Convenience Center; Published to the Town Website; Emailed to the Vilas County News Review. Discussion/Action on Agenda Items: 4. Consider/Approve General Liability Insurance, along with Workman’s Comp Insurance, for the 08.01.2025 through 08.01.2026 Policy Period – After consideration and comparison of the two proposals submitted at the July 9, 2025, Regular Town Board Meeting, the Town Board met to decide on a Carrier for the 25-26 policy period. Proposals were submitted by R&R Insurance and Rural Mutual Insurance, both proposals included Workman’s Comp. Steffens also emailed a renewal of our current policy but provided no updates on coverage amounts as requested. The renewal email from Steffens also encouraged the Town to go with the carrier that is currently providing Builder’s Risk Insurance on the new Community Center/Library (CC) and the new Department of Public Works (DPW) building. Discussion Points: • Customer service and clarity of presentation • Cost/benefit and adequate coverage assurance • The importance of Cyber and other Crime coverage • Making sure the 2026 budget covers the new CC and DPW after they are complete Motion by Selby to accept R&R Insurance with option II, which comes to $53,188 premium. Second by Robinson. All Voting Aye. Motion carried. 5.
