Aaron Jenson, City Administrator 111 S. Main Street • Waupaca, WI 54981 aaron.jenson@waupacawi.gov www.cityofwaupaca.org 715.258.4411 3/18/2025 Subject: Letter of Resignation Dear Mayor Smith and City Council, It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you of my decision to resign from my position as City Administrator for the City of Waupaca, effective June 2nd of this year. This decision comes after much reflection and consideration for the needs of my family, excitement for my wife Jessie, and her accomplishments, as well as my deep appreciation for the incredible team I have had the privilege to work with here. Since 2021, Jessie has been pursuing her professional goal of becoming a Neuropsychologist. One of the requirements for completing her PhD is to secure an internship in this specialty area. Neuropsychology internships are highly competitive and there are often only a few available in each state. For the past two years, Jessie has been traveling to the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee twice a week in the hopes of securing an internship placement in the surrounding area allowing her to complete that requirement while commuting from Waupaca. We recently learned that she was matched for her internship at the University of Missouri, located in Columbia. Given the likelihood that her school requirements will keep her there for 3 years, we have made the decision to move our family to Columbia. There are few things that could compel me to leave my current role, surrounded by such an excellent team of staff and elected officials, and one is commitment to family. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mayor Smith and the City Council for allowing me the privilege of serving in this position. The leadership you have shown and the shared vision for progress within the city has been truly inspiring. The accomplishments of this Council, driven by the desire to serve our community, have been nothing short of remarkable. I also want to express my deepest gratitude to the dedicated City staff. The collective expertise, dedication, and continuous improvement mindset of the individuals working for the City of Waupaca is truly exceptional. It has been an honor to work alongside such talented professionals who are committed to delivering the highest quality of service to their community. In the coming months, I will continue to serve in my current role and am committed to assisting in a smooth and seamless transition to the next City Administrator. Serving this City and working alongside all of you has been the most rewarding and enjoyable responsibility of my career. Thank you once again for the opportunity of a lifetime. It has been an honor to serve in this role for the City of Waupaca. Sincerely, Aaron Jenson City Administrator
