Library Board Minutes 6/10/26

Berlin Public Library Board of Trustees Kay Swan Meeting Room June 10, 2026 The Berlin Public Library Board of Trustees meeting was called to order on June 10, 2026 by President Kay Roethel at 4:30 pm. In attendance were Trustees Blazel, Draves, Durtschi, Guertler, Malchetske, and Rainboth. Director Chris Kalupa and City Council Liaison Missy Sorenson were also in attendance. Public Present: None. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Rainboth to approve the minutes of the May 13, 2026 meeting. Passed. Moved by Draves, seconded by Durtschi to accept the monthly bills for May. Passed. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Rainboth to accept the Treasurer’s report for May. Passed. Library Director’s Report: complete copy attached to official minutes. Moved by Malchetske, seconded by Durtschi to approve up to $15,000, including shipping, for the cab of the elevator with the understanding that doors and panels are included in either this amount or the portion being covered by the city, and further with the understanding that quality will be adequate as desired by the board. A roll call vote was taken, and the motion passed unanimously with all members voting in favor. Moved by Rainboth, seconded Draves to approve $19,491 for the exposed exterior trim painting on the Carnegie section of the library. A roll call vote was taken, and the motion passed unanimously with all members voting in favor. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Draves to approve $12,960 for replacement of three windows plus bronze tint. Passed. Friends of the Library: Draves reported on a great turnout for the summer reading kick-off, donations to support the summer programs, and the upcoming fundraiser at the farmers/artists market on June 30. Personnel Committee will meet on July 8 at 4:00 prior to the board meeting. Business for future agenda: CD renewal due on 7/20/25, painting update, carpeting update.
