Minutes 1. The December 12, 2023, meeting was called to order by Chairman Wuest at 6:00 p.m. Present: Weust, Reabe, Triemstra, Clerk Morris and Treasurer Toney. Absent: Rather and Pettack. 2. Pledge of Allegiance was said by all in attendance. 3. Approve minutes of the November 16, 2023, meeting. M/S Reabe/Triemstra to approve the November 16, 2023, minutes passed. 4. Monthly Financial Review: a. Treasurer’s report – Summary of last month’s financial statements A lot of room tax was received, as well as the Charter funding, and the library funding was received. Tax bills were stuffed and were mailed on Monday, the 11th. The treasurer reviewed the process for paying taxes here at the town instead of at the county, as well as the credit card payment process. b. Clerk’s report – Budget report (monthly) expenses and revenues: The clerk reported that work was done on tax bill and tax roll preparation as well as numerous reports that need to be compiled and reported with the tax roll. The clerk reviewed the mill rate worksheet comparing 2022 rates with 2023 rates and levies. 5. Library report – Christine Lyon, Director Library report was distributed and read. 6. Building Inspector report – Building Permits issued. The report of the building inspector was received and read. 7. Fire Commission report – Mark Pettack – report on monthly meetings. Pettack was absent so there was no report from him. Minutes from the fire commission were received. 8. County Board Supervisor Report – Harley Reabe: County Budget was approved last month, and the board approved a resolution for the cancellation of outstanding checks, An ordinance for a rezone in the Town of Brooklyn for Dennis McConnell was passed. 9. Chairperson Reports a. Road Report – Mike Wuest Road bids are going out for Northwest Road currently. The town only had to salt the roads 2 times so far, so that’s good. 10. Recycling Report – Harley Reabe. Reabe reported that in the month of November we had recycling tons with less people bringing in garbage at this time. 11. Weed Commissioner Report – Mark Pettack: Pettack was absent but no weeds are growing at this time. 12. Consideration and Action on Resolution 2023-02 appointment of Election Board members (2-year term) M/S Wuest/Reabe to approve resolution #2023-02: the appointment of Election Board members for the 2024-2025 session. Wuest: yes; Reabe: yes; Triemstra: yes. Motion passed with 2 absences. 13. Consideration and Action on $23,500 ARPA Funds for road maintenance (crack filling) M/S Reabe/Triemstra to approve the payment of $23,500 for Crack Filling from the ARPA FUNDS. Reabe: yes; Triemstra: yes; Wuest: yes. Motion passed with 2 absences. 14. Next Board Meeting – January 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. 16.
