Adam motioned, seconded by Kevin to authorize paying the bills and accepting the treasurer’s report; motion passed. County Supervisors Report: Scott provided a report of the county meeting dates, the changes to the procedure for the sale of tax deeded properties and Gordon dam repair issues. You discussed Rd. projects increasing driveway permit fees and the Highway B and the Nebagamon Creek bridge project. Town Officers Reports : Kevin attended a pre -construction meeting for the Ranger Rd. project being organized by Trout Unlimited. He discussed the schedule and the importance of getting the word out. Fred discussed the LRIP funding that could potentially be available for the coffee Rd. paving project. Road Report: The crew has been dealing with frozen culverts and seasonal road closures. They posted Bellwood Pit as closed as the road is a mess and impassable right now. Fire Chief Report: They have had 3 mutual aid, 1 motor vehicle, and 2 medical calls. They had 8 volunteers take EMR training and 2 more working on it. Tom Keefe is organizing training for river rescues, an area that has concerned staff in the past. Highland, Cloverland and WDNR have expressed interest in this training. They are still waiting on the FEMA grant for the radios, what usually takes 1 week has now been over 3 months. They may need interim financing as Motor ola wants to be paid. New Business: Zoning: Nothing required approval. Town Radio Usage: Keith discussed concerns that have been raised recently regarding profanity being spoken on town radios. He has had both citizens and organizations speak to him about this issue. He stressed that using profanity on a radio that can be heard around the state is an FCC violation and we could lose this privilege if it continues. Maple School Referendum: Steve Probst, Maple School Board, discussed the Referendum that will be on the April ballot. They are requesting approval for $14.5M to be paid back over a 10-year period, this will coincide with paying off the last referendum and will therefore not result in a tax increase. As the annual payment currently is $3.6M and the proposed would be $2.4M, this would result in a decrease in real estate taxes of approximately $100/$100,000 2 value. They are speaking at town meetings and will have several informational meetings. For info, see www.nw-tigers.org. Alcohol Ordinance: Kevin motioned, seconded by Adam to approve the alcohol ordinance allowing for taking home unopened bottles of intoxicating liquor from a Class B license holder, motion carried. Old Business: Garage Progress Report: The board will consider renaming dump road before we need an address for the garage. If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. Dahlberg Electric provided paperwork for getting an electrical connection, including an easement, application and fee. Diane is working with Baird, a company that facilitates getting funding for capital projects. The audits they require are almost done, so we won’t need interim financing. They indicated the law changed 2 years ago and a referendum vote is not required for municipal notes. They anticipate getting us a 4.5% interest rate. Diane is working through the financial disclosure statement. The project was put out for bids today. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the town hall and virtually on Mar 17. Bids are due on Mar 31 at 2:00 at which time they will be opened, recorded and tabled. Hopefully we will be able to complete reference checks etc. so it can be awarded at the April board meeting. Snowmobile Ordinance: After discussion of the pros, cons, reasons, etc. Fred called for a vote on approving the ordinance allowing persons to travel by snowmobile on roads within the town from residences or lodging establishments within the town to the nearest snowmobile route or trail. Adam and Kevin voted to adopt the ordinance, Fred opposed, motion carried. Town correspondence was reviewed. Adam motioned, seconded by Kevin to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM. Respectfully submitted, Diane Nelson, Clerk
