CITY OF SPARTA 12912 BROAD STREET, SPARTA GA 31087 CALLED COUNCIL MEETING-SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem James Clark, followed by Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call. Council Members in attendance were James Clark, David Ingram, Tom Roberts and Sandra Sherrod. Mayor Allen Haywood, City Attorney John Hitchcock and City Clerk Virginia Webb. James Clark made a motion to go to executive session to discuss personnel matters. Tom Roberts seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous. After statements were made in an Employment Appeal Hearing for Curtis Reese by Timmy Griffin, Supervisor, and Curtis Reese, appellant-discussion was held by council. James Clark made a motion to go back to regular session. David Ingram seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous. Tom Roberts motioned to reinstate Curtis Reese to City employment with the condition that he would sign a contract with requirements involving random substance abuse testing. David Ingram seconded the motion. Vote was not unanimous. James Clark voted “NO”. James Clark motioned to adjourn the meeting. Tom Roberts seconded the motion.
