Village Planning Commission Minutes Feb 12 2026

The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Larry Essenberg at 6:30 p.m. In attendance: Ruben Shell, Larry Essenberg, Al Drenth, Brian Certa and Mary Neer plus guests Matt Thomas, Keith Stewart and Gary Strange. The December minutes were unanimously approved. Public input was provided by Matt, Keith and Gary. Gary is requesting a setback between his property and the Gold Nugget. Issues of sound, fencing and an architectural drawing were discussed. The Gold Nugget does not think it is reasonable that the be responsible for the entire setback. The Planning Commission was updated that the Village and Township are collaborating on a joint Recreation Plan. The Planning Commission was also updated on work on the Redevelopment Ready Community Plan. The Planning Commission's Annual Report was reviewed and approved. (See attached) The Planning Commission’s annual meeting dates were determined. (See attached) Elections were held. Larry Essenberg will serve as President, Al Drenth as Vice President, Jerry Klooster as secretary and Brian Certa as deputy secretary. (see attached) At the next meeting there will be discussion on setbacks for C-1 and Dylan Sommer’s plans for a laundry mat. The meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m
