CITY OF MINERAL POINT BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, August 17 2026 – 6:00 PM
City Hall, 137 High St, Mineral Point
Agenda/Minutes:
1. Call to Order, Roll Call: Mike Christensen, Lauren Powers, Cory Bennett, Christina Kubasta, Dick Josh, Jim
Kackley, Gerry Galle, Dick Poad, Wendy Dueling, Sean Henninger, Cindy Porter, Laura Cisler, John Spady,
Christina James
2. Approve Minutes from July meeting; Lauren made the motion, Cory seconded, and motion passed 3-0.
3. Welcome to Org Reps; introductions made around the room
4. Logo Suite/Coin Design; Draft design shared with group and asked for feedback. One small critique will be
taken back to the designer. Christensen made motion to accept designs with one critique to be made. Powers
seconded, motion passed 3-0.
5. Downtown Banners/Flag; Dick Poad is thankful for the passed logo design suite and can pursue design of the
banners. There will be 51 banners (18” x 40”) and two flags (2.5’ x 4’) per tall pole (omitting shorter poles
on Jail Alley; flags only). $12,000 is the minimum for flags, brackets, and bands. Bicentennial committee
would support bicentennial materials (banners only) and if another entity would like to sponsor flags, that
would be welcome, but would not happen directly through this committee.
6. City Planters; Christensen is working on securing funding for installing city flower planters along High St
and Commerce St. as a way to mark the occasion of the city’s 200
th. This is a developing item that we hope
comes to fruition.
7. Funding Update; the City has placed additional funds in the draft 2027 budget for the bicentennial
celebrations. The idea is to use funds from the city to sell merch, banners, etc. to help raise additional funds
for advertising and operations needs to carry out the events.
8. 2027 tentative timeline of events update; there are two months in 2027 with no events currently scheduled.
9. Anthology update; Christensen shared Frank’s update (submitted by email); project is on target for its
January 2027 launch.
10. Adjourn; next meeting tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 at City Hall.
