Special Meeting - Borrow to purchase new truck — Minutes

Special Meeting 9/8/2025 Purpose of meeting is to ask for permission to borrow money to purchase a new pickup truck. Meeting called to order at 6:04PM Ted Fahey, Mark Gundlach, Kent Brauer and Clerk Sass were present. Town members: Dave Tollifson The town pickup truck is 8 years old (2017) with 135,200 miles on it. Currently, there is a pickup truck ready to go at Kayser Ford for $130,000.00. Exeter has no debt currently and borrowing would not affect the mill rate. Ted thinks the 2017 pickup truck would sell for $30 to $40 thousand. Dave – would you buy a new plow and let the old plow go with the new owner? Yes, the new pickup comes equipped with plow and salter accessories from Monroe Truck. Mark – What would a plow cost? Ted thinks about $10 - $12, 000. This new pickup has a stainless-steel box, plow, salter, on a 1-ton chassis. Truck has been accessorized by Monroe truck. Motion to borrow money and buy a truck not to exceed $130,000.00. (DT/MG), if it goes over, we have funds to cover. All in favor – 4 ayes, no nyes, no abstains, motion passes. Once current pickup truck is sold, we will investigate the purchase of a new ditch mower. Motion to close public hearing (KB/MG), all in favor, public hearing closed at 6:15PM.
