Town of Exeter
Regular Board Meeting
Monday, September 9, 2024 – 7:00PM
Ted Fahey, Mark Gundlach, Kent Brauer, and Clerk Sass present.
Town members: Lyndon Hessling and Siegfried Eckhardt (Siggi).
Notice legally posted.
Minutes: The minutes from August 12, 2024, regular meeting presented. Motion to
approve August 12, 2024, regular meeting minutes (MG/KB), all in favor,
approved.
Treasurer Report: Dawn summarizes balance as of August 31, 2024: $423,435.55.
ARPA funds in the money market account gained $534.93 in interest. The balance is
now $119,516.98. Motion to approve treasurer report (MG/KB), all in favor,
approved.
Announcements: Absentee ballots for November election must be out by
September 19 (148 request so far). The locked ballot box will be out front on
September 19. St. Mary’s Hall is available for November election. I emailed the staff
for a contract. In person absentee voting begins on Tuesday, October 22 – hours will
be posted.
Supervisor report: Ted – Belleville Fire Department has new fire truck in the 2025
budget. Exeter’s portion will not be due until the truck comes in. We will have a
public hearing for authority to borrow money before October 14 board meeting.
EMS had a special meeting to consider moving money from savings to checking but
did not have to because they received the second half of the budget from Exeter and
will be receiving the other members second payments by September 15. Mark –
nothing. Kent – nothing.
Citizen Input: Siggi called Frontier about high-speed internet plan but has not
gotten a response. Money for broadband has been fully exhausted. There might be
more money down the road and Exeter would have a crack at it due to the grant
proposal that we submitted.
Committee Reports: Mark – Nothing. Kent – he encountered the first “thing” at the
vault toilet this past weekend. Someone had thrown a garbage bag and a woman’s
sandal into the vault toilet holding tank. Regarding cameras at the park – Burt
Boldebuck was at the park committee meeting. He said catching license plates
would be slim and the lighting should be 110v not solar on the newly installed light
pole. There were only three members at meeting and they had some “sticker shock”
with the price of cameras. Park committee decided not to send camera request to
the town board.
Unfinished: None
New Business:
• 2024 Tax Collection – Bank Letter/Insert/Agreement with G.C. Treasurer –
Dawn said this is routine and done every year. Motion to approve the 2024
bank letter, tax collection agreement, and insert (MG/KB), all in favor,
approved.
• Damaged windshield – John was driving the town tractor to Wirth Lane to
deal with a downed tree. He had to move way over to the edge of the road
for oncoming traffic when the bucket struck a walnut tree branch causing
walnuts to fall off the tree and hit a car behind the tractor damaging the
windshield. The owner has requested the town pay his $250.00 deductible.
Motion to pay the $250.00 deductible for damage to windshield after
clerk receives the proper documentation from the car owner (MG/KB),
all in favor, approved.
• Bills – Motion to pay bills (MG/KB), all in favor, approved.
Adjourn: Motion to adjourn, (KB/MG), all in favor, adjourned 7:35PM
Respectfully Submitted,
Dawn Marie Sass, Clerk/Deputy Treasurer
