and the New Glarus Post OƯice. Posted to the website on 03-16-2026.
3. Public Comments: Drew Delforge, Susan Crum, Sue Gerber, Russ Moser, Sue Moen, and Bill French spoke
against joining the new Sugar River EMS District.
Amended: Drew Delforge was in favor of joining the new Sugar River District. In the future do I think we need to
get a district, absolutely. Does not feel we should be jumping on a district formation contract, when we said we
were going to wait until December 31st. This agreement has a lot of holes in it. To make a decision based upon a
possible grant application, he feels we are failing to plan. Need to visit more in depth.
4. Public comments: Mike Nevil, Matthew Schmidt, Kevin Hendrickson (Fire Chief), Rob Ready and Gail Anderson
spoke in favor of joining the new Sugar River EMS District.
5. Board Discussion regarding the Sugar River EMS District Agreement and possible action.
Mark Pernitz: Motion attached.
Matt StreiƯ: I think we talked about the decision points in our meeting last week. Why would we do this?
Performance, having a seat at the table, added transparency, access to audits and costs. How has the
performance been? Out of the shoot time 1 to 2 minutes sounds pretty good to me. That is great, performance.
I am happy with that. Having a seat at the table, we have asked for that. As far as cost, relative to current cost,
there are bumpers on that and with one of us being a member on the board we will have him put oversight on
the budget. That passes the test for me. The length a 10-year contract is long, but there is an out with a one-
year notice if things are not working out. In my opinion that mitigates the risk. I would support the district
contract.
Dan Gartzke – I want to thank everyone for coming and all that have worked for the EMS. Everyone wants the
best EMS service possible. He feels this is the best choice and plans to vote yes.
Chris Narveson – I have served on the board 20 plus years. Back in 2011 they had the same conversation, and it
was representation and audited books. In an emergency, response time is critical. With that I will be supporting
this.
Motion made by Supervisor Pernitz to approve the Sugar River EMS District. Seconded by Supervisor Pauli. All
were in favor. Motion carried.
6. Discussion on April Meetings: It was decided to move the Plan Meetings back to the 3rd Thursday of the month
at 6 pm. The next plan commission meeting will be April 16th, at the Town Garage. Due to the election on April
7th, the RTB meeting will be moved to April 21st, immediately following the Annual Meeting.
7. Motion made by Supervisor Pernitz to adjourn the meeting at 05:41 pm. Seconded by Supervisor StreiƯ. All
were in favor. Motion carried.
