Village of Brooklyn Finance Committee Meeting Minutes May 28, 2026 Members present: Chair Mike Brusberg, Trustee David Berland. Trustee Mike Gehrmann was not present. And Village Clerk-Treasurer Linda Kuhlman. Brusberg called the meeting to order at 5:27 p.m. Board of Commissioners of Public Lands loan – discussed balance left on loan from is $102,821.71. Berland made a recommendation to board that we do make notification of prepayment, if no amount is needed, and reinvest the unexpended back into the loan. Brusberg said maybe we can save out $10,000 for sidewalk resolve. Community building study – Berland thought $4500 from GEC doesn’t seem out of line. Brusberg worried about it giving us a confined timeline. Berland said it could be done as a facilities condition assessment instead of study. Brusberg is in favor, as long as it doesn’t induce a timeline. Berland interested in what obligations are and difference between inspection and facility condition assessment or another type of review that helps understand what’s needed without having to move on anything. We will have to look at grants and possible donations. Water system study – Berland and Brusberg in favor of doing study. Funds will come from water. Cameras in village – discussion on necessity. They would like to take to the board. Berland doesn’t like the local storage aspect, particularly with wireless cost being so cheap. If spend this amount to do the work, we should do it correctly and not do local storage. He would like us to look into using cloud storage instead of static storage device. Wifi community building – Brusberg brought up in reviewing the bills; it’s $130 for wifi. He wonders if there are better options like a hotspot where people use it when needed. Check on costs of getting hotspots and charge back to renters; and recreation can use it. Check with Leif on if that would work emergencywise. Brusberg and Berland asked if we even need it. We don’t need to make a decision today. HRA – we can look into it. Look into HSA as well. What are differences. HSA needs high-deductible plan. Send email to set another meeting in June. Berland made a motion at 6:04 p.m. to adjourn. Brusberg seconded. Motion carried. Linda Kuhlman, WCPC, CMTW Clerk-Treasurer
