Public Works Meeting Minutes
June 16, 2025
Meeting was called to order at 6 pm by Chair Olson. Present were committee members Todd Kahn and
Jacob Bachim and public works director Leif Spilde.
Klahn made a motion to approve the minutes of 5-19-2025. Bachim seconded. Motion carried.
Director Spilde provided a brief report of the Hotel St. project. There are a few minor areas of concrete to
be finished and the striping in the parking lot and on Hotel Street .
Update on the Hwy 92 project. A pre-construction meeting to be held sometime after the 4
th of July week.
No known date set yet .
Clarification about the information that has been dispersed by the clerk’s office regarding the Hwy 104
project and that this project will not affect the village. The only thing the state is planning on doing will be
improvements such as centerline rumble strips and edge line rumble strips south of Brooklyn, and they
will only be going 50 ft north past Holt Road into the village. Otherwise it’s all south of the village with
shoulder widening added closer to Brodhead. The state is advocating for a full reconstruction of 104.
Additionally, they are also trying to get DOT to consider a separate project to add turn lanes and bypass
lanes at key intersections. If approved, it would likely occur around 2030 or 2032.
Discussion regarding the N First Street parking of semis. A copy of the minutes from 2021 Planning and
Zoning meeting reviewed.
Discussion took place regarding request for an autistic sign on N.Rutland Ave. Due to lack of a motion, no
action taken.
Klahn made a motion to postpone discussion about the sidewalks till the next meeting. Bachim
seconded. Vote taken, motion carried.
Public works report - Director Spilde handed out a sheet and went through the top items. Temperature
study is more complicated than thought; vandalism at Legion Park in the men’s bathroom causing Public
Works to lock the men’s bathroom and put out of order till Monday for necessary repairs (plumbing). Sold
the antenna at surplus for $1300. Work was done on the Legion Park bleachers; did some landscaping
where the volleyball court was, and hauled compost from the dump .
Set next meeting date. No meeting date set at this time.
Klahn made a motion to adjourn. Bachim seconded. Vote taken, motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 6:18 pm
