MEETING MINUTES Village of Palmyra RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING Monday Jan. 12, 2026 Village Clerk’s Office 100 W. Taft Street 6:00 P.M. Called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairperson Smith. Roll call: Smith, Petruska-present. Deichl- late at 6:06 pm New Business 1. Discussion/possible action on filling the Recreation Director position. Chairperson Smith spoke with Eagle if their PT Director would be interested in FT and do both communities Rec. Dept. but they do not. S mith called the superintendent at the school, but he was out of the office to see if there was anything on the school board agenda about this and spoke with the assistant and she didn’t think it was on the agenda. Trustee Petruska spoke to the Montessori school, and they don’t have money to pay for someone to take over. Smith thinks there should be a discussion with S cott Halbrucker about duties at the park, so everyone is on the same page. Smith will a mend the job description to say “maintain beach staff”, coordinate with DPW staff to ensure fields are maintained and weeds are controlled, fields dragged, etc., and office hours. Also, a mention that they must maintain Facebook, Once the job description is done it can go on the next board agenda. Smith will do a job post ing and send it Laurie and post on several sites.
