Heartland Park to present to the DNR. The park committee will pick a date to meet.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Chief Paul Granger
• The Manitowoc County Traffic Safety Commission meeting was held this
morning. Countywide traffic crash statistics for 2026 were reviewed, showing
524 reported crashes, including 7 fatal crashes. The department continues to
focus on traffic enforcement and roadway safety initiatives within the Village.
• Chief Granger reported on a recent Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) arrest
involving an adult driver who had three children ages 13,10, and 4 years old in
the vehicle at the time of the offense. During the arrest, the suspect became
combative, punching Chief Granger and assaulted other officers. One Mishicot
Police Officer sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the emergency room
for documentation purposes. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody and
transported to the Manitowoc County Jail, where they were held on multiple
felony and misdemeanor charges. Chief Granger noted that incidents
3797
• such as this highlight the unpredictable and often dangerous situations officers
face while serving the community.
• Chief Granger announced the completion of the department's comprehensive
policy manual project after approximately 1.5 years of work. The updated
manual provides officers with current policies, procedures, and professional
standards. The next phase of the project will include daily training bulletins
designed to reinforce policy knowledge and support ongoing professional
development.
• The department is continuing efforts to upgrade its in-car squad camera system.
Technical issues encountered by the vendor have delayed implementation, and
the project timeline has been adjusted while those issues are resolved.
• The Mishicot Police Department recently participated in the annual Police Lights
of Christmas Ride, joining approximately 100 law enforcement agencies from
across Wisconsin. The Police Lights of Christmas organization helps provide
assistance to families and individuals in need during the holiday season.
Department members will also be participating in a fundraising event at Culver's
in Manitowoc on July 28 to support the organization's charitable efforts.
• Chief Granger reported that the Fourth of July holiday period was generally
uneventful from a law enforcement perspective. The department responded to
several fireworks-related complaints during the days leading up to the holiday
but experienced no major incidents during Independence Day celebrations.
Trustee Al Beranek
• Stated that the VFW women’s restroom soap dispenser needs a battery.
• Gave an update on the amount of funds in the MCAC bank account.

and he counted 35 loader tires, 18 truck tires and 8 tractor tires that were
buried up there. He did some checking and Manitowoc County Recycling will
take them but they need to be dirt free and we have to call in advance. The
3798
cost is $560 per ton for the loader or tractor tires and $460 per ton for the
auto or semi tires. He is recommending that the cost of disposal of these tires
come from the MAGIC Thunder bank account. MAGIC will discuss this at their
meeting next week.
