Police & Fire Meeting — Minutes

Minutes of the Port Edwards Police and Fire Commission Regular Meeting – Tuesday, October 7, 2025 – 6 p.m. @ Buehler Center Present: Commissioners Martin, Thomasgard, Weiland and Chairman Stewart. Commissioner Drew was excused. Fire Chief Lease was also present. Meeting was called to order by Chairman Stewart at 6:04 p.m. There was no public comment. Motion by Weiland, second by Thomasgard to approve the minutes of the September 8, 2025 meeting. All in favor. Chief Lease reported on recent PEFD activities and noted that there is one recent application in process. In Police Chief Abbott’s absence, there was no PEPD report as such, but Chairman Stewart noted that there may be future activity concerning part-time PEPD officer applicants. Motion by Martin, second by Weiland to go into closed session pursuant to WI Statute Sec. 19.85(1)(c) @ 6:18 p.m. All in favor. Motion by Weiland, second by Thomasgard to come out of closed session at 6:34 p.m. Following the closed session, the PEPFC took the following action: Motion by Weiland, second by Thomasgard to move PEFD candidate A to the second phase of the hiring process (medical). All in favor. There were no closing remarks. The next meeting date is TBD based on need. Meeting was adjourned by Chairman Stewart at 6:42 p.m. Leo Thomasgard PEPFC Secretary
