Communications and Correspondence: Discussion took place about recent public comment letters related to the Pike’s Bay Sanitary District boundary issue and other information provided in the meeting packets. Discussion and possible approval of minutes of Regular May Town Board Meeting of May 6th, 2025 and June 9th, 2025: A motion was made by Meierotto, seconded by Steffenson, to approve the minutes. Motion carried. Update from Bayfield Area Trails Committee: Chairman Finn noted the work that has been done at the Headwaters Trail and the planning taking place for improvements on the Salmo Lakewalk Trail. Old Business Discussion and possible recommendation to Bayfield Town Board on appointment of new Plan Commission member(s): Chairman Finn acknowledged the three letters of interest that were received. These letters were from town residents Mick Parent, Tom Hart, and Nan Swift. Discussion took place about the information provided in the letters. Some concern was brought up that one applicant stated they go out of town in the winter and may have to attend remotely at that time. Feyen stated he thinks that attending in person is preferable. Discussion also took place about the experience and interests expressed in the letters. Nan Swift’s background was particularly appropriate for working with the Plan Commission. A motion was made by Fahrenkrog, seconded by Steffenson, to recommend that the Town Board appoint Nan Swift as a member of the Plan Commission. Motion carried. Update on Bayfield County Zoning Code Re-Write Process: Bermel stated that she listened in to the June 11th Sub-Committee meeting. She was frustrated at the time that she was not allowed to give public comment. She explained that the sub-committee was looking for ways to simplify things. Fahrenkrog also stated that she attended. She was able to briefly express to the sub- committee that she is disappointed the town is not represented. Finn also stated that he is not happy with the situation. He stated that he is against too much narrowing down of the zoning code. Finn suggested that he may consider a zoning overly option. Fahrenkrog mentioned that the towns don’t have to sign up for the County Zoning. She suggested that the town needs to have more control. Feyen expressed concerns that the enforcement of violations is not taking place. Finn asked for permission to express his concerns at the August 13th Sub-Committee meeting and to speak to the Bayfield County Executive Committee. New Business Discussion and possible action on Bayfield County Recreation Comp Plan Input Request Letter: Finn suggested that Tom Hart and Mick Parent, the interested residents that were not selected to be the new Plan Commission member, be asked if they would serve on a sub- committee to provide input on the Recreation Plan. It was suggested that Meierotto, and Fahrenkrog, would also serve on the sub-committee. Finn stated he would organize a meeting. Discussion and possible action on option to apply for Enduring Lake Superior Communities Program: Discussion took place about the level of interest in this opportunity. It was suggested that the town road crew might be appropriate to come up with a plan for an application. It was decided that there is not enough interest to pursue this program.
