OLD BUSINESS
Update and possible action on Short-Term Rental Fire Inspection requirement based on
letter received from Bayfield Fire Department: Fire Chief Jeff Boutin was present and gave an
overview of the letter and the related discussion that took place at the June Plan Commission
Meeting. It was explained that the Fire Department recommends that Short-Term Rentals now
be scheduled for inspection before they begin renting and then once every three years. A motion
was made by Meierotto, seconded by Erickson, to approve requiring short-term rental be
inspected only every third year after the initial pre-rental inspection. Motion carried. Spot
inspections will still be allowed as determined by the Fire Department.
Update and possible action related to driveway application submitted by Jon Preekett for
location off of Meyers Olson Road: Chairman Hoopman stated he is concerned that the
requested location crosses someone else’s land whether it is legal or not. He is not comfortable
with it unless the adjacent property owner is fine with it. Discussion took place related to the
question of whether or not the two parties have spoken about the issue. It was suggested that the
town send both landowners a request that they come to an agreement since the Town Board does
not feel comfortable approving the request at this time. Boutin made a motion, seconded by
Erickson, to request the landowners come to an agreement. Motion carried.
Update and possible action on Pikes Creek Trail land ownership/access issue: Chairman
Hoopman stated that he will set up a meeting with Kevin Casper, the adjacent landowner, in the
hope that the two parties can work out the issue. He stated he will report back on the issue at
next month’s meeting. He added that until the issue is resolved, nobody should be on the
property.
Update on Star Route Road TRIS Reconstruction Project: Foreman Cadotte reported that
there were not enough trees cut and that around 20 more will need to be removed. The

Discussion and possible action on request from Tim and Kimberly Rinehart to vacate
platted roadway near Lakeshore Drive: Tim and Kimberly Rinehart were present at the
meeting. Tim gave an overview of their request. Chairman Hoopman explained that the issue
will be sent to the Town Attorney with the intention of starting the process. He also mentioned
that any legal fees related to the process will be the responsibility of the requestor. It was agreed
that the Rineharts would be notified of the steps and timeline once the town hears back from the
attorney and a plan is in place.
Discussion and possible action on complaint raised at June Plan Commission Meeting by
Jim Fuhry about zoning violations/commercial activities in a residential area on the
shoreline and piers near Island View Road: Meierotto gave an overview of the issues Fuhry is
having with the adjacent property owners. A motion was made by Boutin, seconded by
Meierotto, to approve a letter being sent to the Bayfield County Zoning Office asking them to
look into the issue again. Motion carried.
Discussion and possible action on replacement of tree and/or shrubs outside the Town Hall:
Fred Faye wrote a memo requesting input on whether he should replace the tree and shrubs that
had been in the small garden areas around the town hall. It was decided that some perennial
shrubs and a flowering crab apple tree could be placed at the site.
Discussion and possible action on any desired improvements to the Settlement Park such as
replacement of pavilion or other covered sitting area, picnic tables, trees and/or shrubs, or
other steps to encourage use: Chairman Hoopman stated he would like to speak with Linda
