City of Bayfield Common Council Meeting Minutes Minutes of July 10, 2024 Call to Order – Roll Call – Pledge of Allegiance Council President Cornelius called the meeting to order at 4:45p.m. followed by roll call and pledge of allegiance. Present: Lyn Cornelius, Matt Carrier, Diane Fizell Absent: Mayor Ted Dougherty, Bill Bland Others Present: Dakota Weeks – Deputy Clerk/Treasurer, Josh Novak – Chief, Joel Weber – PWD, Teresa Weber – Library, Mike Burg – GBWWTP , Samaya Ray – Deputy Clerk/Treasurer, Carol Fahrenkrog – Chamber, Jeff Fuller – Chamber, Laura Lima & Julie Haugen-Hosszu Approve Agenda: Carrier/Fizell with the amendment that Chief Novak gets to move his June report to Agenda item 1. Carried Public Comment and Suggestions from Persons Present on Agenda Items: None. Discussion and Identification of Items for Future Agenda: None. Review/Approve the Board of Review and Common Council’s Minutes of June 12, 2024: Postponed. Agenda: 1. Police Department – June 2024 Report i. Officer Lex resigned with the department in good standing. Department is down to just Novak, working overtime. Candidate interview went well, proceeding with process. If a candidate comes on board, will be sworn in early August ’24. Subsequent training will keep the department on a one officer schedule. New squad is outfitted. 2. Bayfield Chamber & Visitor Bureau Marking Plan i. Jeff Fuller gave a presentation. ii. Council gave positive feedback & had no questions. 3. Projects Updates • Harbor – Bayfield City Dock Finger Pier Project i. No updates • Harbor – Underground Storage Tank Replacement Projects i. No updates • Playgrounds – East Dock Park Project i. Posted RFP on City website. Sent to 10 planning entities. Will narrow down to one in August. Katherine Jensen will be the new Harbor liaison through this planning process. Applying for grants where they can. • Public Works – Manypenny Project – Street, Water & Sewer: LRIP Grant i. Reviewed Storm Damage & Manypenny Ave Street Closure. Applied for State Aid through disaster relief for Manypenny & Washington (Near cemetery). Will pulverize & grade to get Manypenny opened back up & repair Washington. • Planning – Wayfinding i. Signs are mostly up. County will put up HWY signs. • Planning – Zoning Code Rewrite i. No updates 4. Mayor’s Report – Austin Robinson Letter i. Discussed Austin’s letter & will respond back. ii.
