--Present were Chairman Garrel Walejko, Supervisor Dave Chase, Supervisor Bill Behnke, Outgoing Clerk
Vicki Snyder, New Incoming Clerk Tonya Nigh, Treasurer Karen Savignac, Deputy Sheriff Adam Spitler,
Wautoma Police Chief Paul Mott, Marc Pindel, Ed Kissinger and Barb Bartel.
2. Approval of Minutes of the July 10, 2025 meeting
Chase made a motion to approve the July 10, 2025 meeting minutes. Motion was seconded by Behnke. All
favored the motion, so the motion carried.
3. Treasurer’s Report
Savignac gave her Treasurer’s Report for July 1-31, 2025. Walejko offered the Treasurer’s Report for audit.
4. Reports
a. Deputy Sheriff – Town Patrol Update
Spitler stated he receives a lot more questions from citizens during the summer months.
There was an animal bite and issues of people not wearing helmets on their ATVs. On Lake
Alpine, a family was fishing and a car tried to get kids to come to the car, but drove off when
the parents came up. A resident on County NZ is making a little bit of cleanup progress and
due to the lot line dispute with the neighbor, a surveyor has staked the lot line.
b. Wautoma Police Chief – Boat Patrol Update
Mott stated that they are participating in events, wearing their Marion uniforms…Dairy
Queen and Waushara County Fair. No violations when patrolled on Hills Lake. Silver Lake is
where the violations are. They go out in boats & kayaks and sometimes sit on Kissinger’s
deck to watch boaters.
5. Public Comments – Ed Kissinger thanked the Board for contracting with the City of Wautoma to do
the Boat Patrol. He has had nothing but good comments and it is working out good.
6. SPECIFIC MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION BY THE TOWN BOARD:
a. Hiring a New Clerk – The Board and the new Clerk, Tonya Nigh, discussed the Clerk’s
Contract of Employment. Nigh wanted a few things changed on the Contract: Salary will be
revisited in October 2025 and Office hours can be revisited. A motion was made by Chase to
hire the new Clerk, Tonya Nigh, with the Revised Contract. The motion was seconded by
Behnke. All favored the motion, so the motion carried. The Revised Clerk Contract of
Employment was signed by the Board and the new Clerk.
b. Approve the New Clerk to sign on the bank accounts - A motion was made by Chase to
approve the new clerk, Tonya Nigh, to sign on the bank accounts. The motion was seconded
by Behnke. All favored the motion, so the motion carried.
c. Receipt Printer at Maes Landing – Snyder received a Quote from IPS for a Receipt Printer Kit.
The cost is $998.69. The Board decided to table this. Spitler has an App so he can see who
pays by credit card, however the App is not showing him when someone pays the $25
annual permit fee, therefore Spitler isn’t giving out any parking tickets at this location,
because he can’t get updated correct information. The company has been contacted but
they say there is nothing they can do to fix this problem.
d. Zone Change for Vern Wagner – Walejko stated as far as he knows, if the board doesn’t do
anything, it will become law, so it was decided to just let it go. A motion was made by Chase
to leave alone and let the County intervene. The motion was seconded by Behnke. All
favored the motion, so the motion carried.
e. Audit – It was discussed about having an Audit done since the Clerk was leaving. Savagnac
also stated that with needing a Tax Bond at over 3 million dollars per year, she needs an
audit or Ordinance every year. Snyder talked to the WTA and they do not recommend the
Town doing the Ordinance. Will look into getting a Quote for the Audit.
7. Correspondence – None
8. Complaints – Walejko said there have been a lot of complaints on trees hanging over the roads.
Looking at having Adam Blader cut the trees. Behnke said there are complaints about the blacktop
repair on the Spring Lake Landing. Brian tried to fix it with cold mix, but it’s under the water and the
surface has oil on it…so they are still working on it.
9. Approval of payment of current bills – The bills were reviewed, and the checks were signed. A
motion was made by Chase to approve the bills. The motion was seconded by Behnke. All favored
the motion, so the motion carried. It was mentioned that several automatic ACH payments for the
office were being charged to Snyder’s personal credit card, because the Town didn’t have one.
Snyder has cancelled these automatic payments. Need to find out from the Bank about getting the
Town a credit card.
10. Adjournment – At 7:55pm, a motion was made by Chase adjourn the meeting. The motion was
seconded by Behnke. All favored the motion, so the motion carried.
