PUBLIC COMMENTS
Ed Kissinger, President of the Silver Lake Management District, stated he has received
complaints about the number of boats on the lake during the weekends. There was a drowning
last month, and many of the residents think the water patrol could be more assertive and enforce
the rules by giving out more tickets rather than warnings. Chairman Walejko indicated he would
be speaking with Sheriff Zuehlke, as we would like to see strict enforcement and two people
patrolling the lake on weekends.
Joe Kelm, of Cedar Springs Lake, spoke about the problems with the ditch not draining on the
west side of the circle because it has been blocked with sticks, etc. He asked if someone could
come out to look at it. Chairman Walejko said this ditch has been dug out three different times,
and it gets deeper every time it’s dug. Jeff Wesner, President of the Cedar Springs Lake
Association, and Chairman Walejko have spoken about this, and the county will be taking care of
it.
A few people have asked Bob Savignac about when Klein’s Landing will be redone. Chairman
Walejko indicated it will be after Labor Day before it can be addressed, but the idea is to raise it
so everything drains to the launch.
Supervisor Behnke was informed there have been people hitching their boats on the two islands
on Alpine Lake, and that people have been removing the rip-rap and building forts on the islands.
All ATV and UTV signs are up in the Town of Marion.
Supervisor Chase asked to allocate $10,000.00 in 2024 for fish stocking in our lakes. A letter will
go to lake districts from the town, indicating how they can place their orders, and it will be ready
to approve at the next Town Board meeting.
