Streets Committee Meeting — Minutes

Street Committee Meeting Thursday June 19, 2025 Call to order – Those in attendance, Tom Lauritzen - chair, Mary Pilz, Steve Yeska, Robbie Jansen, Doug Jirik and Lindsey Inda. Meeting called to order at 9:10 am. The committee reviewed quotes from Casper and Ascendance Truck Centers for the purchase of a new or used plow truck. The committee also reviewed financing options through dealer financing and Farmers State Bank. It was also discussed putting the old plow truck up for auction. T/Yeska seconded T/Pilz made a motion to approve the purchase of a 2025 International MV607 from Ascendance for $220,000 with financing through Ascendance for a 6 year term at 4.879% with payments made in arrears. Motion carried. The committee reviewed bids from Waushara County Highway Department, American Asphalt and Fahrner for street repairs. T/Pilz seconded by T/Yeska made a motion to recommend the bid from American Asphalt for Roberts Road repairs and shouldering and the bid from Waushara County Highway Department for double chip sealing of River Street to the Village Board at the July 2, 2025 meeting. Motion carried. The committee discussed the Street/Sewer maintenance job description and job posting. They felt the job description was adequate as it was presented with the addition of a disclaimer that “these duties are included, but not limited to”. They felt $20 would be a good starting wage with a potentially higher starting wage based on experience. They are also recommending a 6 month probationary period. The committee is recommending to have the job opening posted in the Argus, on Facebook and on the Village website to start. If need be, the job opening will be added to Indeed if no applications are initially received. The committee will present this information to the board on July 2, 2025.
